Yeah right. Roles I see for the above typically state multiple years of commercial experience.

Indeed. You can stay in one (non-top 4) club and still be considered a footballing legend. Case 1: Matt le Tissier. Considered one of the most talented Premier League players ever. Scored goals no other player would dream of apart from Messi and Ronaldo. Never left Southampton.

Companies have been outsourcing tech roles since long before WFH became common. Coming in the office will make no difference to their decision.

That's very true but job ads typically state they want commercial experience in the above (i.e. for you to have done it at a previous work). Side projects alone won't cut it with most recruiters.

Dunno about penguins but there was a big deer enclosure next to the room they put me in at Magdalen.

People say this but I still see quite a few job ads titled "AI Engineer" asking for multiple years experience in ML, Pytorch etc. I have even seen some ask for PhDs.

Did those 1 in 3 rehire the same number of staff, at the same level with the same salaries? How many of those staff were offshore/low cost centres? – at Sydney, New South Wales

Talking w a larger startup whose product seems to not have degraded (vs many other products), even though they also use a AI for coding everywhere. Asked an infra lead: how? "Even before AI, we were paranoid about quality, and built this irrationally thorough E2E testing system"

Be honest. What's the one thing stopping this England team from winning the World Cup? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
