Thermals drops in Mahindra XEV9e??
We have already posted the 59kWh charging curve earlier (Pic2), but this one is noticeable in the fact that frequent multiple thermal drops were seen in the curve.
This session happened after 500km of driving with a 60kW top-up inbetween.
A total of 8 drops are seen, although recovery was pretty quick too.
What possible reasons could be there?
- Pack thermal limitations
- DC bus thermal limitations
Recovery is indeed quick and no noticeable difference in time is seen, it's something to ponder about.
If car side thermal limitations are being hit, the bms should lower the power input to a level where thermals can stabilise instead of pushing on.
Next day after a 100km run on same station didn't saw any drops.

However the amps only matter till 30%, after that they don't.
We did two tests thanks to our friend @anish1027 .
Both show approx same behaviour, but still noticeable difference.
Test 1 held good better 30-50%, whole Test 2 did better in other range.
After ~ 70% both stayed at about same path.
Two drops were noticed in test 2 as well weirdly.

Tracking Cell Manufacturing in India 🔋 — TCIN
India’s cell manufacturing ecosystem is slowly moving from announcements to actual production. Here’s the latest picture from what we’ve been able to track:
⚡️ OLA - 4680 NMC cells are in production, with LFP cylindrical cells expected soon. 46100 was mentioned earlier, while the scooter page also mentions 46160. Installed capacity is ~6 GWh. The planned expansion to ~20 GWh is expected to focus on prismatic cells. Actual production is still well below installed capacity.
⚡️ AGRATAS - Media reports have finally confirmed what we’ve been saying: Envision AESC technology is being used. Agratas is pursuing its own LFP technology. LFP cells are 175Ah, while NMC cells are 102Ah & 173Ah. Production is now expected in 2027. NMC production for JLR is expected first.
⚡️ GODI - Factory plans were announced earlier, but we couldn’t find any significant recent update.
⚡️ EXIDE - Plant construction is complete, with ~6 GWh capacity split equally between NMC & LFP. SVOLT technology, as reported earlier. Test batches are being sent to customers for qualification; Hyundai is not among these yet.
⚡️ LUCAS TVS - Factory plans were announced earlier, but there’s no significant recent update.
⚡️ AMARA RAJA - Gotion technology for LFP and Highstar technology for NMC. Phase 1 is planned at 4 GWh. Currently operating a sampling plant for customer qualification.
⚡️ RELIANCE - No meaningful update on Sodium-ion; the project appears to be on hold. For lithium-ion, contrary to some media reports, we found that equipment has been procured. Installation should begin soon. More to come.
⚡️ WAAREE - Announced a 3.5 GWh factory. Limited updates since then. We believe ALEEES could be the potential technology partner, but this is not confirmed.
⚡️ PANASONIC - IOCL - No significant update.
⚡️ IBC - JV with MGL for cell manufacturing in Karnataka. Factory plans have been announced, while IBC currently manufactures cells in Korea and assembles packs locally.
⚡️ NSURE - No significant new update. Samples and qualification work continue.
⚡️ JSW - Still looking for a technology partner.
⚡️ NASH ENERGY - Has a 600 MWh LFP cell manufacturing facility.
⚡️ GEGADYNE - Has a lab/pilot plant working on multi-ion chemistry rather than conventional lithium-ion. Supplying cells to Godrej for forklift applications. Exact capacity remains unclear.
⚡️ BOSON - Factory plans were announced earlier, but no significant update so far.
⚡️ VIKRAM SOLAR - Announced semi-solid Sodium-ion plans with technology partnership from Entity2. The project appears to be on hold for now.
⚡️ TRYDEN TECH - New addition to our list. Has its own R&D and has developed LFP & NMC cells. Pilot production is underway, and its technology is also being supplied externally for production.
🪫 Some projects have gone the other way:
❌ Log9 — Existing operations have ceased.
❌ Rajesh Exports — The project appears unlikely to materialise. The status remains unclear, including how it received PLI support.
❌ Carbolium Energy — We couldn’t find meaningful evidence of ongoing activity and it appears to have ceased operations.
