ALT Today, we honor the life and legacy of a true Democratic icon -- Congressman Bill Clay, Sr. As Missouri's first Black member of Congress, he was a fearless advocate for civil rights, labor, education, and working families. A founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressman Clay embodied what it means to be a public servant -- steadfast in his values, unshaken in his mission, and deeply committed to the people he represented. For over three decades, he stood as a pillar of the Democratic Party not just in Missouri, but across the nation. His leadership paved the way for so many and laid the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable political landscape. We send our deepest condolences to the Clay family and all who were touched by his wisdom, strength, and service. His spirit will continue to guide our fight for justice, equality, and progress. Rest in power, Congressman Clay. Your legacy lives on. - St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee
