I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

This is so good. Exactly what we hoped would happen. EVERY child becomes a capitalist and a shareholder in America’s success. 🇺🇸🚀 A 9-year-old checks the S&P 500 close, names a company they own a piece of, and watches that ownership grow over time, learning investing, ownership, and the power of compounding along the way. 📈
In August, on my grandson’s 9th birthday, I gave my daughter $500 to seed his 530A Trump Account. When the account opened, @MichaelDell and Susan Dell’s $250 hit it. That was the moment he got excited. He wanted to see the app. He wanted to see “his” money. We did not stop at a one-time gift. We turned it into a weekly habit. I scanned the QR code and added $50 on top just to test the app. It worked. Simple. Fast. A couple of weeks ago it hit me: if I add a little every week, he will actually watch. So now, every Friday after the close, he has a job. He tells me: 1The S&P 500 close 2The weekly change 3One company in the index Then I put $5 in his Trump Account. He does not get paid for existing. He gets paid for paying attention. That is the point. The $500 birthday seed started the account.
The Dell $250 made it real to a kid.
The QR test proved a grandfather can fund it in seconds.
The weekly $5 is what builds the habit. He is learning the names of American companies. Not slogans. Companies. The ones in the S&P 500 that hire people, sell products, and compound over time. A child who owns a slice of those companies becomes a capitalist. A child who only hears that wealth should be handed out becomes a spectator. A 530A Trump Account is a tax-deferred investment account in the child’s name. No job required to fund it. Any U.S. child under 18 with a Social Security number can have one. Kids born 2025–2028 can get a $1,000 Treasury seed. Family, friends, and employers can add up to $5,000 a year. It stays invested in a low-cost U.S. index fund until the year he turns 18. We opened his at TrumpAccounts.gov. Thank you @POTUS for signing it. Thank you @SenTedCruz for writing it. Thank you @SecScottBessent @USTreasury and @TrumpAccounts for building the account, the app, and the QR code so a grandparent can fund it from a phone. Thank you @MichaelDell and Susan Dell. Your $250 is what made a little boy open the app and care. Thank you @altcap @InvestAmerica24 and everyone else putting real money behind other people’s kids. This is how you raise owners, not dependents. Grandparents: seed it once. Then attach a weekly job to the next dollar. Parents: open it tonight at TrumpAccounts.gov. If you are doing this with a child, reply with the company they named this week.

Ro, I like you. You know that. But you need to read the state of the state. The number of Deca Unicorns in Cali is growing by the day as investors chase amazing startups. A unique feature of these 10b startups is that even if they raise a billion, little, if any of that money goes to the founders, who are now worth billions of dollars over night. They are the definition of cash poor, stock rich How are you going to tax them ? Make them borrow money against their shares, if they can? They just raised money to grow their company and a bank will come along and loan them money ? A company that has been in business maybe less than a year ? lol Will you take their stock if they can’t ? Do you really think each of multiple founders, who started an amazing company in Cali and is now a billionaire, can each just pull out $250m per billion of net worth from their raise ? You know they can’t. If this passes , and it doesn’t directly impact me at all, I won’t be a cali resident, but you can bet if I’m investing in a multi billion dollar startup, I’m asking them to move from California first. IMO, if this passes, only idiot startup founders stay in Cali. I’ve done it before and will do it again. Dallas. Pittsburgh. Indiana. I will make NOT being in California a pre requisite for an investment Ideology is not a strategy Ro.
The California Democratic Party and the California labor movement just stood with @BernieSanders and me in supporting 5% wealth tax on 250 California billionaires. California voters want a Democratic Party that will stand up for the working class over the billionaire class.

SpaceX raised only $12B of capital before going public. With that $12B, they revolutionized the rocket industry, built a global satellite network, and created arguably the most innovative company of all time. The federal government spends $12B every 15 hours and still can’t get its shit together. Prior to SpaceX, NASA was sending astronauts into space on Soviet-era Russian Soyuz capsules. So no, I don’t find Elon’s wealth to be a problem, and I wouldn’t trust Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders to allocate a single dollar of it.

It’s disappointing that right as the biggest ipo happens in American history, rather than celebrate the achievement, we have to deal with a bunch of socialist politicians scheming about how they can steal his wealth. I’m no fanboy of Elon Musk, but you don’t get to rob someone, even through the euphemism of taxes, just because you don’t like them. This vindictive and jealous attitude towards wealth creation would be the downfall of our country. And if we really want to punish something in society it should be Kalshi and Polymarket. They turn every aspect of life into a degenerate casino. These companies are much more of a problem in society than anything Elons companies are doing.

Elon created 110,000+ jobs while trying to solve civilizational problems in multiple fields (cars, energy, space). Zohran studied African marxism and lived off his parent’s trust fund into his 30s. He’s just a communist rich kid who hates rich people who aren’t communists.
Reason #1,000,000,000,000 why we should tax the rich.

* Correct quote is “politically left” not socialist. Point stands. Entrepreneurs take potential and turn it into value that’s added to the global GDP. They capture a small amount of that value in the process which is a big part of the incentive. The rest goes to others, employees, shareholders, government, suppliers etc. You can always criticize them. You can always criticize the redistribution efforts. But you should always remember that without them, there is very little new value enters society and that locks everyone in zero sum competition, sometimes war. Entrepreneurs are load bearing for human thriving. It’s a glorious act to put yourself out there and build a company that provides good and services to everyone. And Elon is the best entrepreneur that ever was. You don’t have to like him, and sure he’s crazy, but otherwise he wouldn’t do crazy things. Same coin, two sides.

A lot of people are angry that Elon Musk might become a trillionaire. I’ve never understood that mindset. Why spend your energy counting someone else’s money? The guy helped build PayPal. Tesla. SpaceX. Starlink. Whether you like him or not, he’s spent decades creating things that millions of people use. Meanwhile, some people spend their time complaining about successful people on the internet. One mindset builds wealth. The other builds resentment. Choose carefully.

Elon Musk is doing exactly what he should be doing with his money as a trillionaire: > innovating technology > creating millionaires, paying high wages and employing thousands of people > donating money to build schools > helping human civilization advance If there’s anyone in the world doing GOOD with their money it’s Elon Musk.

Ro, you’re lying and you know it. You compared a man’s net worth to a country’s GDP. A balance sheet to a year of output. You went to Yale. You learned the difference between a stock and annual output flow. But being a politician and lawyer, you love to lie and gaslight the economic illiterates, it’s your entire business model. You want a 5% tax on Elon to fund free trade school for every American. Trade school costs $80B/yr, you can’t even fund a year. Elon doesn’t have $55B in cash. It’s stock. You know this. To pay, he sells roughly $70B of Tesla and SpaceX shares, and the sale itself gets taxed on top. SpaceX raised $75B at its IPO this morning at a $1.77 trillion valuation. Imagine him selling that amount every year. Ro isn’t taxing Elon. He’s taxing everyone who gas exposure to the market. Every pension fund and index fund on the planet gets wrecked. And given Ro, he’ll insider trade and short before the bill passes. And for what? To rip capital from the best allocator alive and hand it to the most incompetent institution in human history. Elon turned PayPal gains into Tesla and SpaceX: 120,000 jobs, launch costs down 90%, two industries that didn’t exist, a $1.77 trillion company from nothing. You’ve never built anything. You’ve never employed anyone. You’ve never created a dollar of value in your life. You collect a government salary and demand tribute from men who do what you can’t. Your machine spends $7 trillion a year and still runs a $1.8 trillion deficit. It loses up to $521 billion a year to fraud. More than your entire tax raises. The Department of Education went from $34 billion in 2000 to $268 billion in 2024. 8x the money. Reading scores at multi-decade lows. Trade schools still unfunded. You don’t lack money. You lack competence, and you want Elon to subsidize it. You haven’t donated your wealth. You haven’t moved into government housing. Empty your accounts first, Ro. Then preach. Elon’s options get taxed as ordinary income at the top rate when exercised. Over $500 billion in lifetime taxes, the largest tax stream from one human ever. You want $55 billion now in a way that craters the shares the $500 billion depends on. Your tax doesn’t raise money. It kills the companies, kills the jobs, kills the pensions, and torches a bigger check already in the mail. You’re the monkey in the middle, Ro. You can’t build. You can’t allocate. You can’t even count. So you eat from everyone else’s pie and call it fairness.
Brad, a 5% tax on Elon's trillion net worth would literally pay for free college and trade school for every American. And with the market's growth, he still would be worth over a trillion dollars! You don't think that's worth it?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
5% of $1.2T is $60b. 8m students in BA/BS programs on average pay over $20k/yr, or ~$160b/yr for BA/BS degrees only. That tax could not cover even half of only US bachelor degree costs for just 1 year, excluding grad, ass., or trade degrees totaling another ~10m students. nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/i… bestcolleges.com/research/colle…

Spirit Airlines died tonight at the hands of the socialist crusader, Elizabeth Warren She must be so proud to add another casket to her achievements. Tonight at 3am, Spirit turns off the lights. 14,000 jobs gone. 30+ smaller airports lose service. JetBlue offered $3.8 BILLION in cash to buy Spirit in 2022. Shareholders, flight attendants union, literally everyone voted yes. The combined company would have held 9% of the US market against a Big 4 that already owned 80%. For anyone who understands numbers: 9% isn’t a monopoly against 80%. Warren said no. She wrote letters. She pressured Buttigieg. Biden’s DOJ sued. A federal judge killed the deal in January 2024. Her argument: the merger would cost consumers $1 billion a year. Now look at her collateral damage she dusts under the rug. 510 pilots gone in the months after. 1,800 flight attendants furloughed in December. 14,000 jobs in 2023. 7,500 last week. Zero tonight. And that’s just the people in Spirit uniforms. Catering goes. Fuel guys go. Baggage crews, gate agents, airport coffee shops, hotels and rental cars in 70 cities Spirit flew to. Every airline job carries 3 more on its back. 40,000 people out of work because of one woman’s moronic crusade against the market. And the math ain’t mathing. Spirit abandoned 90 routes during the death spiral. Fares on those routes are up 14% on average. Oakland to Newark: $135 to $288. Fort Myers to San Juan: $92 to $219. Kansas City to Newark up 66%. That’s reality. Not some BS number from a “study.” So @SenWarren tell me how this saves the consumer money? Cheap carriers in a market drop fares 21% across the board. Southwest did this in the 90s and saved Americans $68 BILLION over 20 years. Warren killed it. That’s what moronic politicians led by socialism do. Then with her own blind arrogance, she tweeted Spirit’s collapse is “a Biden win for flyers.” A win. 14,000 people are reading termination letters tonight. And she’s taking credit. This is socialism in 2026. A senator who’s never made payroll thinks she knows how to run a market better than the people who own and work in the company. She saved you a billion on imaginary paper. She cost you ten times that in real life. She didn’t protect consumers from anything. 14,000+ will go from working to welfare. She will make sure to blame billionaires, hardworking tax payers, AI, capitalism and whatever monster they will make up tomorrow hiding under your bed. Higher taxes. Fewer jobs. More expensive everything. She called it a win. I hope you enjoy winning.

A lot of talk about a “wealth” tax on billionaires. While we have a lot of issues, confiscating wealth is unlikely to be the answer. Any tax that starts with billionaires will inevitably end up being imposed on the rest of us.

I personally do not trust our current crop of politicians with any more tax money given the massive amounts of fraud, waste, and grift going on. I think it is totally reasonable to discuss tax rates, capital gains tax changes, etc. Not a fan of any sort of wealth confiscation.
