Well you can’t exactly blame me, we had a lot on our hands trying to stabilise the zero point and the threat of Geno.

“I see, that’s good then, hopefully this should all go smoothly…” Taking another look around the alley as they approach the door, doing his best to remain calm and vigilant.

“Okay, got it, I’ll follow your lead…” He lowers his voice to a whisper and follows them carefully from behind, keeping himself ready for any sneak attacks. “Just to check, is there anyway someone else could detect this energy signature or possibly be following us?”

Really? Guess I wasn’t been that observant…

He can do that?

“Down here?” He walks down the alley, stopping a few yards away from the door, looking around the alley trying to spot any cameras. “Since you know this place better than me, any idea who or what could be waiting on the other side?” He glances back at her.

“Yeah, yeah, hold on I’m coming…” As he walks over to her, he picks up his wallet and keys from the countertop, grabbing his jacket from the coatrack by the door. “Anywhere in particular you wanna go?”

“Only if you want to, I can wait until you’ve got more free time.” Quickly washing his cup and placing it on the drying rack, he now turned to face her.

“I see…” Taking a mental note of how she reacted to that question and how her body language shifted. “I typically work alone, so I understand that feeling.” Deciding not to push his luck further, he leaves that topic alone and focuses on their mission. “Are we any closer?”

I don’t know, like it would be nice, but I wouldn’t want you to feel forced into coming with me…

“I mean yeah people do things on their own, it’s more like we guide them on the best way to handle a situation.” Trying to simplify it without further confusing her. Looking over at her as he tries to decipher how she’s feeling. “It’s not a big deal, but… you’re really alone?”

Her request catches him off guard, not in a bad way, more so it surprised him. “Really? Honestly not what I was expecting but sure, I can do that.” Walking over to his sink and puts the empty cup in it. “So, did you wanna grab that drink now or are you busy?”
