Even more amazing... that's George Washington's Dodge van, and it's still parked out front.
The Four Corners in Kingston, NY is the only intersection in the United States in which all four structures date before the American Revolution. The oldest, the Jansen House, was built between 1663 and 1667 when the region was part of the New Netherlands colony.

I found this random illustration of the Bell X-1 inside a random copy of Model Airplane News magazine from 1958, and it’s absolutely stunning.

Farewell to the kuroneko jets 😥
Yamato–JAL to End Domestic Freighter Operations "Kuroneko" by June 2027 Yamato Holdings and Japan Airlines (JAL) have announced that their domestic dedicated freighter operation will end by around June 2027, marking a major shift in Japan’s air cargo strategy. The freighter program launched in April 2024 as a response to Japan’s logistics “2024 problem” and the growing shortage of truck drivers and road-freight capacity. However, rising aviation costs have changed the economics. Yamato and JAL say continued yen depreciation and higher aviation fuel prices have pushed air-transport costs higher than initially expected, widening the price gap between air and truck transportation. Rather than continue operating dedicated freighters, the companies plan to make greater use of cargo capacity aboard passenger flights and other alternative transport modes to maintain a sustainable logistics network. The decision highlights a broader challenge facing air cargo: dedicated freighter capacity can provide speed and reliability, but sustained fuel and operating-cost pressures can fundamentally alter its economics. 📦✈️ From solving Japan’s truck-driver shortage to adapting to higher aviation costs, the Yamato–JAL experiment offers an important case study in the evolution of multimodal logistics. #Aviation #AirCargo #Yamato #Logistics #Freighter #AirFreight

Well said! I did a COD flight to land on the USS Nimitz in 2006, and I’m so grateful for that experience. Still amazed by it too.
The final flight of the C-2 is sad, because it closes off a unique experience for non-aviators. The COD, in a way, democratized an incredible experience, a carrier arrested landing and catapult launch, for tens of thousands of people during its career. Regular sailors, visitors, journalists, and more got to experience this. In a way, an incredible ambassador for naval aviation. CMV-22 will fill the COD mission, but won't ever replicate this. A sad day for aviation.

This is touge-level aviation
What looks effortless is actually one of aviation’s most demanding maneuvers. In under 12 seconds, the CL-415 “Super Scooper” skims a lake to collect nearly 6,000 liters of water while pilots carefully manage changing weight, drag, and balance. Moments later, it’s back over the wildfire, making it one of the world’s most effective aerial firefighting aircraft. 📹: ferlxv
