The management team regretfully announce the cancellation of our Easter Steaming and will monitor the situation regarding our May Open Weekend due to the current health crisis caused by Covid-19.
The museum will remain closed until further notice. Stay safe! 💙

Don’t get jealous of our big BUTT! 😜
#EveryDropCounts
It’s forecast rain so make sure you get those BUTTS out like @TeesCottage has, the bigger the better!
No ifs, ands, or butts about it - they’re a great way of collecting rainwater, ideal for your gardening activities. 💚
They can help save water and money. #EveryDropCounts

How do you like your face in the morning? We like ours feeling fresh!💙 Meet our Aimee, who will be showing you some reusable alternatives to single-use wet wipes this week and putting them to the test! #BinTheWipe
Please bin the wipe and ask friends / family to do the same. Thank you
I spy with my little eye - something beginning with, ‘W’ ?
We collected a skip full of ‘em in 4 days at one of our sites! 😳
Some products state they are ‘flushable’ & you can clearly see they aren’t!
We will continue to push for change BUT in the meantime please #BinTheWipe

Meet our latest blockage busting tool - the Barbarian - and here it is in action! 🙌
Wrongly flushed wet wipes block pipes! They cause sewer blockages = Raw sewage flooding to homes + Communities + Pollution to the environment.💔
Please #BinTheWipe

Here’s our Steve with his latest gadget to help in the battle against wet wipes blockages.
We LOVE this new piece of kit BUT we just need a name for it… (HELP?!)
What would you call this spiky device? Suggestions in comments please
Love this! 💙
#ThrowbackThursday to 1866 when the beams were fitted @RyhopeEngines
The transportation of the beams was not without its problems!
The River Wear had to be crossed with 44 horses pulling each beam & the Toll Keeper refused them.
What happened next? > bit.ly/3ea5T8r
We love this... Great video of our George and Dave! 💙
