I dunno if I get the 'Violet's personality is boring' bit because the thing that makes deadlock's characters really good is they're grounded. Like Doorman being a minor commentary on hospitality while also a torture demon. Real freak energy but very believable.

Violet being a fucking wizard at oil paints and STILL not getting a chance to prove herself (or even be recognised by her own parents) is a very real feeling; a feeling I still get now and way before I started doing thumbnails and art. Maybe that's boring, but it's not nothing.

I dunno maybe I'm not so quick to dismiss something because it isn't *weird* enough. In a cast of freaks, having a few "normal" people does make them stand out more. Having a contrast between everyone adds way more than just worldbuilding.

Listen I might complain about the prices of warhammer stuff but I don't care about the company stock. I'm a customer, not a shareholder. That business is speculative and constantly fluctuates. I'd be careful believing anything on that side of the fence.

The reason Halo stood out from other shooters at the time was the space opera. It was THE MAIN REASON why people didn't want to play another tin head in WW2... Which was also a setting that Activision flogged half to death back then, because it was 'safe'.

You also can't separate Halo 4/5/Infinite from this either, or ODST/Reach. You can like or dislike whichever game you want, but it's all connected. Just because it doesn't have a halo in it, or was made by a different studio doesn't mean it is completely separate.
