Accept that evil walks amongst us in the forms of neighbours and colleagues you once believed to be decent.
It’s not politics. It’s about morality, and the values you hold dear are demanding more of you than ever before. Maybe all.
This is the moment that defines who you are.

Police punch Hispanic man already pinned to ground—22 times.
Officer had already shot him with taser.
"He stiffly hit the ground after being tased, and his head banged on asphalt," said witness.
"Cop mounts him and starts beating—later 3 more piled on."
Just because man was standing in the road blocking some traffic.
Witnesses say he looked like he was having a mental episode—and was not trying to harm anyone.

I now have two sources close to Susie Wiles who claim that Trump is preparing a vast misinformation campaign for November 4th, built around conspiracy theories alleging widespread election fraud.
The plan? Declare victory regardless of the results, accuse Democratic officials of manufacturing ballots overnight, claim voting machines were secretly manipulated, and demand that Republican candidates refuse to concede.
In this scenario, the goal isn’t to prove fraud. It’s to convince millions of Americans that any election Republicans lose must have been stolen.

Andy Burnham, "She said it was a mistake for the Conservative party to leave the European Union before we had a plan for growth outside the EU"
"She may as well have said that it was a mistake to leave the EU without a plan in place to control migration"
"Because that is what led to the Boris wave, in the government she was in"
"Where migration in this country changed, away from revolving door migration (with the EU), towards long term settlement"
"Let's have humility from the Conservative benches who left low growth and migration our of control"
Kemi Badenoch, "I stand by my words. Where we make mistakes I own up to them"
Badenoch then claims that Burnham doesn't respect Labours own Brexit red lines, even though he's already said that he isn't changing them during this parliament.
Burnham then picks up on her claim where she says she admits to making mistakes observing that twice on BBC London she was asked whether Brexit was good or bad for the economy, and she refused to answer.
Badenoch then says yes, to Brexit being good for the economy.
The Conservatives spent years promising Brexit would boost the economy. Now, when asked if it actually did, their leader needed a shove to say yes.
They left the country with weaker growth and a mess of their own making. The lectures can wait.

China's massive overreaction to a soccer star's comments about Mao, media blackouts, forced apologies, etc. Actually shows that Mao was a dictator.
In fact, it shows that the country is still under a dictatorship and that it now has the power to enforce censorship overseas.
International soccer star @KMbappe should not apologize for calling Mao Zedong a dictator. Mao was a dictator, and by orders of magnitude, he did more harm to the Chinese people than a comment from a soccer player ever could. Mao was the leader of the CCP for decades and his dictatorship and disastrous policies killed tens of millions of Chinese people in the Cultural Revolution, the Great Famine, and other atrocities. Involved in the Party from its first national meeting in 1921, Mao is the principal historical figure for a Party that continues his practices of oppression and ideological purges. For decades, the CCP has denied the Chinese people basic human rights including freedom of expression and freedom of religion. These are rights enjoyed by Mbappe and millions of people around the world and Mbappe should exercise this opportunity to tell the horrific truth about Mao’s dictatorship.
The real disgrace in this news story is the companies rushing to apologize so they can continue to do business in China. The CCP is the largest oppressor of the Chinese people and their human rights, and those businesses that work with the CCP help normalize its crushing brutality. reuters.com/business/media-t…

Every bill is a China bill! This one needed amendment because, without it, we’d have ended up sending sensitive data to the CCP.
Huge congrats to @jayapathak_ and a long list of IPAC members who made this happen. 5th law change in the UK since founding.
‼️ IPAC UK secures legal protection for transnational repression victims.
Following @DavidAltonHL's amendment to prevent data sharing with China, the government will prohibit data sharing outside the EEA & 5 Eyes.
Unamended, the Bill risked sensitive data being shared with 🇨🇳

Although
- he worked for Russia Today
- Bad Boys of Brexit has regular meets over business opportunities including gold
- he met with 'Russians' and denied doing so despite photos - with the Russian Ambassador and another involved with Gill
- he was the Leader of the man found to be taking bribes from.... Russia
Apparently Russian servers have been hit by a Ukrainian strike and immediately massive online hard right chatter has collapsed.
This particular chatter was in support of Germany’s AFD, their equivalent to Reform, but similar patterns are being seen in hard right movements everywhere, including the UK.
If anyone needed anymore evidence that Russia are driving a massive wave of hard right propaganda in Europe, this is it.
So, all you “patriots” - you’ve been duped by Russia, and you are about as far from patriotic as anyone can be. You are easily brainwashed though. This is how propaganda works.

Since June, ICE has been arresting Hongkongers lawfully present in the US by intercepting airports, holding them for weeks, and pressuring them to sign voluntary departure forms. In every case I’ve handled, courts eventually order them released, but this only happens after weeks or months of illegal detention of innocent people. Even after release, many are forced by ICE to wear ankle monitors and barred from leaving their area.
@phelimkine of @politico investigates these illegal detentions in a new article out today. DHS told him that DED "is not a status." But Hanscom Smith, who served as US consul general in Hong Kong under both Trump and Biden, shared the reality: if you're a Hongkonger here on DED, you're here legally.
Many of these people were part of the 2019 democracy protests. Administration officials have told us the White House will not extend DED past February 5. After that, DHS's position is that it can put them on a plane back to a government that jails people for wearing a "liberate Hong Kong" T-shirt or posting pro-democracy statements on social media.
Senator Merkley and Rep. McGovern's Hong Konger Promise of Refuge Act would let these Hongkongers stay and apply for green cards. It is the clearest fix on the table, and it needs support now. Time is short: Please ask your senators and representative to cosponsor it.
Republicans in particular: this should be your bill too. In 2021 Marco Rubio cosponsored legislation to fast-track Hong Kong exiles for refugee status. These are pro-democracy Hongkongers fleeing the Chinese Communist Party, and every one of them was vetted before arriving. We need Republican cosponsors to get it moving, and I'm glad to talk with any office considering it.

Today in Congress, @SenJeffMerkley and @RepMcGovern have introduced the Hong Konger Promise of Refuge Act, which would let Hongkongers already living in the US *lawfully* under Deferred Enforced Departure apply for green cards.
These are people who fled Hong Kong after Beijing dismantled the city's freedoms. Many were protesters, organizers, or journalists, and Hong Kong's National Security Law reaches speech made anywhere in the world, so for many of them going home means repression at best, arrest at worst.
They are here lawfully, and they were screened before they ever arrived. Each of them obtained a US visa through a consular interview and State Department vetting, and USCIS has been screening them and issuing work permits ever since. The bill adds a further bar for anyone with a felony or multiple misdemeanors. Whatever the concern about this group may be, national security is not it.
The protection they rely on expires on February 5, 2027, and nothing requires any president to renew it. In the meantime, despite their lawful presence in the US, ICE has been arresting Hongkongers who are covered by the program, often at airports, and holding them for weeks before a judge orders them released.
An administration that describes itself as tough on Beijing and supportive of Hong Kong's democracy movement should not be sending Hong Kong's democrats back to the government they fled.
