This is Joe's Pond in West Danville, Vermont. It is the largest body of water in Vermont still called a "pond." In the 1940s and 1950s, my dad (died August 2025), my grandfather (died 1982), my grandmother (died 1979), my aunt (died 2013), and my uncle (still among us) used

Our pedophile terrorist president is now making random dementia grunting noises live during rallies, and about 40% of the country and 98% of republican politicians will proceed to completely ignore it and act like everything is fine

This is an incredible project: NBC News asked parents to check their kids' YouTube history during school hours — and the results show kids are spending huge chunks of the day watching videos that have nothing to do with learning

Brad, your stuff is great mostly -- but have you ever fucking met a pregnant woman with infertile friends? They're almost exclusively terrible to that woman. This is where "research" differs from "lived reality."
Fertility is *incredibly networked* - having friends who would celebrate your pregnancy/baby -> wanting more kids. New @FamStudies:

everyone talks about the male loneliness epidemic but nobody talks about the number of beautiful, intelligent, successful women who gave up on dating because this generation of men genuinely has nothing to offer them besides stress, trauma and life lessons they were never supposed to learn from grown ass

Not sure who needs to hear this but....
An LLM doesn't "understand" anything. It is a statistical model that spews out tokens based on probabilities calculated through massive matrix operations and context, not an understanding of the subject matter.
that's ostensibly the point
I’m beginning to think having children traps you in the system. Once you have people depending on you, you can’t just quit your job, take risks, or walk away from a life that makes you miserable. You need a steady paycheck, health insurance, and stability. Suddenly, survival matters more than freedom.
What is the point of a top-25 in this situation?
Felt same, honestly.
Dan Orlovsky posting about his brother in law passing away with a GoFundMe link attached is next level. Bro making 1 million + if you so worried about your sister take care of her. Stop asking for handouts.
I can’t believe he just used his followers on his app to get a handout bc his sister apparently didn’t take care of financial standing.
My wife doesn’t work. We don’t make a million dollars a year but if I die tomorrow at 32 my wife has a home paid for. A business she can sell to start her life over + money saved. We sacrificed buying a lot of things over the years to pay off the house bc I wanted to make sure she wouldn’t be in a bind if I died.
I have completely loss all respect for Dan & I honestly don’t give a damn about the tragedy anymore or feel bad.
And I can’t wait to see the other fucks making millions for shit ass analysis telling me to donate money to someone bc someone died as if they were gonna live forever. Should always be prepared.
And I’ll be the bad guy for thinking this way but it’s okay idc.
Bonus: politics is tribal. Tribal-wise, all we have anymore is politics and sports. (Maybe neighborhoods? Sometimes corporate rivals?) We love tribal shit. So we love hearing how the other group is the "out-group." Policy? What the fuck is that?
American politics is a mess because most voters don't follow policy, so politicians stopped explaining it.
They sell slogans, outrage, and sometimes flat-out lies, because that's what wins. The stupidity of voters is a problem, but it’s also a problem that politicians have decided manipulating voters and appeasing them is easier than persuading them.
Never underestimate how little the average voter knows about policy. And never underestimate how many politicians are counting on it.
