I like this point on graphic organizers from @SustainTeaching: if they’re always different, we’re not scaffolding learning or fading support… we’re just making students reliant on teacher organizational structures.

I understand why teachers use graphic organizers to support writing, but if you are constantly switching between GOs, kids aren't using them as a scaffold: it becomes a permanent fixture that fosters dependence on the teacher to explain how to structure writing.
