The solar plant is on and powering the factory! It makes enough power during the day to power the whole factory itself for almost all of the time. Need to clean the panels now as they haven't been cleaned for a month after they got installed.

A bon entendeur.

Grid School 03 — Plant Load Factor
Installed capacity is not the same as generation.
And a low PLF does not automatically mean waste. It can reflect outages, fuel constraints or dispatch decisions.
The real question is not just how much capacity we built, but how that capacity is used.

We continuously correct the imbalance through concrete actions: revising generator schedules, directing available units to ramp up, procuring ancillary services and using available reserves to bridge the supply-demand gap. Automatic responses act alongside these measures. State LDCs adjust their control-area balance, while RLDCs coordinate inter-state support.
If these measures are insufficient, operators may curtail scheduled load or resort to controlled load shedding. If frequency deteriorates further, under-frequency load shedding schemes operate at configured thresholds. Severe instability can cause generator protection trips and, in an extreme case, cascading outages affecting parts of a state or region.
The key point is that operators don't wait for frequency to collapse. We monitor frequency, interchange, reserves and generation response continuously and intervene to restore balance before the disturbance escalates. A widespread blackout is an extreme scenario, not the expected outcome of every evening frequency dip.

Naturally, there is a targeted attack in the comments. And some are joining the fun. But then, there is no smoke without fire. We as Indians need to strive hard towards cleanliness. Clean India should be a mission, not just annual theatrics.
And no, it is no just the responsibility of politicians but also each one of us. Remember the next time you toss something out of a vehicle or throw something in the open

🇮🇳 India's Pumped Storage Pipeline continues to expand.
As per the latest update from the Ministry of Power:
⚡ 11 PSPs (15,870 MW) are under construction.
⚡ 6 PSPs (8,140 MW) have received CEA concurrence/appraisal and await construction.
Total pipeline: 24,010 MW.
Key policy support includes:
✅ Faster DPR approvals (90 → 50 days)
✅ Simplified environmental clearances
✅ TBCB framework for storage procurement
✅ 100% ISTS charge waiver for 25 years (eligible projects)
Andhra Pradesh alone has 2,850 MW under construction (Upper Sileru, Chitravathi & Gandikota), reinforcing its position as a major pumped storage hub.
Long-duration storage will play a crucial role in integrating renewable energy and supporting grid flexibility.
