Your child's school runs on software older than you are. The average school building in America is 44 years old. The software tracking your kid's data is…not much younger. Every major student information system was built in the 1990s: → PowerSchool (1997) → Infinite Campus (1993) → Skyward (1980) → Aeries (1995) Schools store data in janitor closets turned "data centers." They track 2024 attendance in systems built before the internet. They manage modern security threats with 30-year-old code. Since the 90s, the tech world has invented: • Artificial intelligence • Self-driving cars • Space tourism • Smart phones Meanwhile, schools are running mission-critical operations on systems old enough to have a mortgage. Talk about outdated software. We are treating education like a second-class citizen in the digital age.
