On Friday, I announced that I will not seek reelection to a 6th term in 2020. My family & I have been humbled by the outpouring of kind words & encouragement we have received over the last several days.

My name won't be on the ballot in 2020, but our work isn't finished. I'm committed to continuing the fight for AL & the people I represent until I cast my last vote on the floor of the People's House. Until Jan. 2021, I will continue the important work we started over 9 yrs ago.

Riley & I, & our children, Margaret & George, will be forever grateful to the people of AL-02 for giving us the tremendous privilege & honor of serving our state & country. Throughout my 5 terms, I have cast every vote w/ the guiding principle that Alabama always comes first.
We have delivered some incredible results for our military, veterans, ag community, & the unborn. We aren't finished yet. My name will not be on the ballot in 2020, but I remain committed to continuing the fight until I cast my last vote on the House floor.

Today I was honored to receive the @USChamber Spirit of Enterprise award in recognition of my unwavering commitment to pro-business policy. I will always support commonsense, growth-oriented legislation that will foster economic prosperity & help our business communities thrive.
This morning, I was honored to receive the Family Research Council’s True Blue Award for scoring 100% on their 2018 vote scorecard. In Congress, I will always support policies that strengthen American families and protect the unborn. #ProLife @FRCAction @FRCdc
I just voted against H.R. 8 because, as a gun owner, I believe in the importance of our constitutional right to keep & bear arms. This lazy piece of legislation would not protect Americans from gun violence – it just creates more hoops for law-abiding citizens to jump through.
I believe our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they included the Second Amendment in our Constitution, & I will continue to fight against Democrats’ efforts to weaken it. I’ve said it before, & I’ll say it again: I value our #2A right, & I will always protect it.
What a night! I'm humbled & grateful to the people who live & work in AL-02 for once again placing their trust in me to fight for them in Congress. Each day, I wake up & strive to be the best possible representative of our values in Congress. Looking forward to the next 2 years!
