THREAD: Some schools have great behaviour. But I’m interested in how you IMPROVE behaviour. I’ve only ever worked in turnaround situations, and these are the specific whole school policies I’ve seen work. In order of effectiveness:

She wasn’t inadequate. No one gets to headship without being more than capable of doing the job. She sacrificed significant moments in her life doing her job. She served her community. An inspectorate that ruins lives is inadequate. bbc.co.uk/news/education-676…

Creating a system and sticking to it is always more efficient than starting from scratch and building something bespoke each time.

I'm sure that getting to bed early is far better than late-night prep any day of the week. You don't want to wing it in the morning... but whatever you do will be better if you sleep well the night before. #teaching #edutwitter #sleep

Never underestimate the power of modelling in teaching. Even for simple things like designing a poster or writing a short paragraph on a topic. Model it. Your lesson could be the first time a child's seen that idea presented in that particular way. #edutwitter #eduation #edchat

You won't have a good day everyday. Some days you'll make mistakes. I could be a bad lesson or poor behaviour management... Don't blame yourself. Deal with it as best as you can and move on. Tomorrow is another day. #edutwitter #education #teaching

I think there are a lot of uncomfortable truths that still cling to our psychology from evolution that need healing and attention. However, facing them will require looking into some very sensitive subjects. Aggression, sexuality, depression, relationships, loneliness…

Stop juggling. Pick one goal. Pick one solution. Then hammer away at it on the daily. You can’t master one thing if you’re trying to perfect 20 other things. Pick one. Crush it. Pick another. Crush it.

Low-level disruption will cause big issues. It can be hard to solve. One of the best solutions is #consistency. Treat each child equally with your expectations. We work hard with those who struggle with #behaviour. Offer the same support to others. #edutwitter #teaching

A fantastic article. I agree with every single word. 'Many children have internalised the mistaken idea that good mental health means feeling good all the time. But discomfort is not a problem to be solved, it is a necessary part of life we must all learn to willingly endure.'

The British TV show "Teletubbies" aired from 1997 to 2001. Contrary to their on-screen appearance, the characters were huge: Tinky Winky was 10 feet tall, Po was 6 feet 6 inches, Laa-Laa was 6 feet 5 inches, and Dipsy was 8 feet. To make them appear small, the show was filmed on a massive set in Wimpstone, Warwickshire, which was kept secret for a long time. However, once the show's location became known, it became an unintended tourist spot, with people trespassing to visit the "Tubbytronic Superdome." Frustrated with the disturbances, the landowners decided to flood the set.

Fast, lift, sprint, stretch, and meditate. Build, sell, write, create, invest, and own. Read, reflect, love, seek truth, and ignore society. Make these habits. Say no to everything else. Avoid debt, jail, addiction, disgrace, shortcuts, and media. Relax.Victory is assured. @naval
