#TeachWriting Chat

The #TeachWriting Facebook group is getting started, and we're hoping to start our conversations there around the beginning of December. If you're interested in being part of it, please join us! facebook.com/groups/teachwri… #TeachWrite #TCRWP #EdChat #NCTE #NWP #ILWrites

Unfortunately, it looks like we need to CANCEL tonight's chat. Looking forward to our last chat of the year on Tuesday, May 28th! #TeachWriting

Spent the day yesterday at our annual WritingPalooza with @illinoiswp - helped (watched, really) @JalenKobayashi lead a fantastic session on "Where I'm From" poems, hip-hop style . . . #TeachWriting

It looks like we need to postpone our #TeachWriting for April - anyone mind if we chat next Tuesday instead of this Tuesday?

#TeachWriting starts in a little over an hour - moderated by yours truly - and here are the Q's - feel free to make suggestions! Looking forward to the conversation! Please RT! #TeachWrite #EngSSChat #STEM #NCTEChat #ILWrites #NWP #TCRWP #MakeWriting #LearnLAP #AmWriting

Some mentor texts for our resource list - probably the last one before we get started at the top of the hour - from @ncte - www2.ncte.org/blog/2018/01/m… #TeachWriting

Resources for tonight's chat - If you aren't familiar, here are some sample student essays (most are amazing, some good models here) from the Common Core site - corestandards.org/assets/App… #TeachWriting

Here's another useful resource of model student work, for our chat later tonight - achievethecore.org/category/… #TeachWriting

Another resource for tonight - check out the C3WP program at the National Writing Project - sites.google.com/nwp.org/c3w… - lesson plans, strategies, a whole bunch of stuff . . . #TeachWriting

Here's the inevitable @edutopia article on Teaching Argument Writing - edutopia.org/article/strateg… - a great intro to some of the big questions we need to talk about tonight . . . #TeachWriting

I like the writing teachers at movingwriters.org, and they talk about argument a bunch - here's a search of their site around the keyword ARGUMENT - movingwriters.org/?s=argumen… - lots of cool stuff there. #TeachWriting

The mighty @AngelaStockman has a FB group on writing instruction - facebook.com/groups/angelast… - if you're cool with connecting there (I'm still a little hesitant), it's a cool resource, too . . . #TeachWriting

Of course, we gotta have @RWTnow on our resource list - readwritethink.org/professio… - #TeachWriting

If you're joining us for tonight's #TeachWriting chat, you have like 7 min to grab a cup of tea (or something stronger if you have a cold day like me tomorrow) and get set up to talk with us! #EdChat #MakeWriting #TeachWrite #TCRWP #2ndaryELA

Excited to be leading this chat, and hoping for some help from our regulars over the years . . . @KellyTumy @lisahughes196 @skeeTX @brholland @steinatdavis @AngelaStockman @scottmpetri @Jeremybballer @Lyricalswordz @MsKraushaar @mardieteach #TeachWriting

Welcome to #EngSSChat, the combined #EngChat and #SSChat! Please take a moment to introduce yourself, what you teach, etc. (Bonus question: if you had a SNOW DAY today, tell us how you spent it (minus 2 points if you did any grading))
