Hello #GAConf25
Here is my series of GIS “How to” guides that a colleague kindly plugged in their #GIS talk.

Today it is the UK's turn to experience serious flooding due to intense rainfall.
A reminder that UK rainfall intensity has increased markedly over the past 60+ years. All consistent with the physics of a warming atmosphere which is now more humid.

Please remember the rule, folks:
Some summers are hotter than others, but every summer is now warmer than if the same weather patterns happened decades ago.
The summer of 2024 was still warmer than the vast majority of the summers of Julia's childhood.

Have you tried the #geography #fieldwork to estimate Carbon sequestered in trees?
Google Lens is brilliant to ID the species.
Here’s my online calculator using the @FieldStudiesC method…feedback welcome. (Let students do some by hand!)

So good to see this report, but not surprised, as our Institute of Education has been world-class for many years. Proud of you all
Schools watchdog praises Reading’s Institute of Education for its effective training of the next generation of teachers
But leaders @UniRdg_IoE say they won't focus on the judgement, supporting the campaign for change in the way Ofsted reviews schools.

The Ofsted report has been published following their inspection of the @UniofReading’s Secondary PGCE programme. We have long since stood with local school partners who disagree with the format of one-word judgements, so here is the report with some of my personal reflections.
