Where were you at 10? Do you remember what you wanted to be? How big was your world? In some of the underserved schools where our Teacher Leaders are making a world of difference, children grow up knowing only what is around them. For some, the biggest dream they can imagine is working on a wealthy person’s farm or owning a bicycle one day. Not because they cannot dream bigger, but because you can only imagine what you have had a chance to see. We took our Board Chair, Ivan Ssenfuma, to visit some of these schools. He was amazed by teachers doing extraordinary work with so little, and one thought stayed with him: What could just one book awaken in a child? A book can introduce a child to a place they have never seen, an idea they have never encountered, or a future they did not even know was possible. And today, 8 in 10 children aged 10 in Uganda cannot read and understand a Primary Two-level story. This International Literacy Day, help us open up a child’s world. Give a book. You may be giving a child their first glimpse of what is possible. #InternationalLiteracyDay #LiteracyForAll #EveryChildCanRead #EducationEquity #ReadingForChange #BooksForChildren #Uganda #EducationInUganda #TeachForUganda #TeacherLeaders #LeaveNoChildBehind

@TeachForUganda recently visited schools in Kibaale and Hoima alongside district stakeholders. The visit provided an opportunity to review how our Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme is being implemented and the difference it is making in schools. We also looked at the challenges schools are facing and talked with district leaders about how to work more closely to help children learn better. #TeachForUganda #FoundationalLearning #Education

The agenda said team building..... But the dance moves deserved their own debrief😂🧡 A little friendly competition, a lot of laughter, and creativity that refused to stay in the office. This is our kind of teamwork at Teach For Uganda. A team that plays together… stays together.

Representation matters in education. When girls see women teaching STEM subjects, they gain examples of what is possible and encouragement to pursue pathways that may once have seemed out of reach. Through Leaders in Teaching Uganda, @TeachForUganda is recruiting, training, placing and mentoring 160 female STEM graduates to teach in underserved rural secondary schools. In Beyond the Blackboard: Why More Girls in STEM Matter, our Managing Director, Charlotte Iraguha, highlights the role female STEM teachers can play as educators, mentors, and role models, and why supportive learning environments matter for girls' participation in STEM. How do we create more opportunities for girls to pursue STEM and contribute to Uganda's future? Read the article on pages 16–17 of the Young Africa Works Uganda Digest and explore the role representation can play in shaping those opportunities: heyzine.com/flip-book/4c4604… #YoungAfricaWorksUgandaDigest #ImpactThatLasts #TeachersMatter #TeachForUganda #LeadersinTeaching @Educ_SportsUg @MastercardFdn @LGFnUg @UNICEFUganda @VVOBinUganda @EdukansUganda @STIReducation @PEASchools @UgBritish @Brainwaveug

“Why should I join this fellowship?” Fair question. @Omonyono , a current Teacher Leader, might have an answer. Two years ago, public speaking was something he struggled with. Today, he leads a classroom, influences young learners, and says, “I’ve seen my leadership change with these young children.” So maybe the fellowship is not just about what you teach. Maybe it’s about who you become while doing it. 🎥 Hear @Omonyono share his fellowship journey. STEM Fellowship applications are OPEN. Female STEM graduates, aged 22–27, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 can apply. 👉 teachforuganda.org/the-fello… 📅 Deadline: 14 October 2026 #TeachForUganda #FellowshipApplicationsOpen #YouthLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #LeadersinTeaching
