Texas has adopted revised social studies standards that require public-school students to study key chapters in Israel’s history, including the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948.
The standards describe the territory as the “ancestral homeland of the Jewish people” and place Israel’s creation within broader lessons on the "Holocaust, Zionism, the British Mandate and the displacement of Palestinian Arabs."
