Originating in the 16th century, sharbats are an integral part of summer. Emperors would send for frequent batches of ice from the Himalayas to make cool drinks. Grown in the Western Ghats, cherry tomato is used to make kokum sharbats. Plum is even mentioned in the Mahabharat.
