Should karakia (prayers, incantations) be used in shared public spaces like schools, government orgs., council meetings, etc?
There’s a bit to unpack…
I was reluctant to speak to media about why I resigned from TOP board & some of the tribalism/nastiness in the party
I agreed coz I believe all parties should be scrutinised equally by state media. Comparatively, TOP has had 0 scrutiny & been treated overwhelmingly positively.
RNZ rejects allegations of political bias, but even Labour leader Chris Hipkins has questioned the media’s election coverage, saying smaller parties received “disproportionate coverage.” Read more below. chrislynchmedia.com/news-ite…
In the context of rising antisemitism, attacks on Jewish businesses & synagogues, mass shootings of Jews - this fool thinks it’s ‘funny’ to suggest Jews are the problem in the ME and that a “solution” to the “problem” would be Jews leaving and relocating to the pacific. Nut job!
Actually if Israel decided to leave the Middle East and restart in the Pacific, it would solve a lot of problems rnz.co.nz/news/pacific/20485…

What a batshit insane thing to say! Holy fuck!
You really should delete this one…
I’ve never voted Winston and you can hate him all you like, but he is 💯percent correct here - scientifically and morally.
The High Court has just made a ruling to overturn the government’s decision to ban the use of puberty blocker chemicals in children - the judge declared the regulations unlawful and invalid and set them aside.
We will demand that this decision be immediately appealed by the Minister of Health.
Our country needs to come to our senses and base these critical health decisions on evidence. Not on process.
Puberty blockers are banned indefinitely in the UK and the Nordic countries for anyone under 18. This ruling makes New Zealand sit in stark contrast to that.
NZFirst was the only party who campaigned on the banning of puberty blockers in kids and the only party who fought hard to ensure the government brought this ban in.
We will continue that fight to ensure commonsense and normality wins.
Pōrangi! (Fucking bonkers!)
I am absolutely bloody furious.
The High Court has struck down the Government’s restrictions on new puberty blocker prescriptions for children with gender dysphoria. PATHA is celebrating that they can continue to pump drugs into children that have known lifelong impacts including setting them on a path to sterilisation.
Mark my words this WILL be a medical scandal.
It is outrageous that the courts have intervened when the Government is simply seeking proper safeguards for vulnerable children.
Look overseas! Governments and health authorities have been pulling back from the insanity that has seen activists controlling the narrative and strong arming institutions. In New Zealand our courts want the deranged to run the asylum.
Britain’s LABOUR Government made restrictions on puberty blockers indefinite due to unacceptable safety risk. Wes Streeting understood that children’s healthcare requires evidence, however loudly campaigners shouted at him.
In America, the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s restrictions on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors. Another decisive rejection of the idea that governments must simply defer to the organisations promoting these treatments.
And the organisations NEED scrutiny. WPATH and NZ’s version PATHA are without credibility and should not have remotely the influence they have enjoyed.
Documents from US litigation raise serious questions about political influence over WPATH’s supposedly authoritative standards. Justice Clarence Thomas discussed those revelations in his separate Skrmetti opinion, including pressure to remove minimum ages from treatment guidelines. Seriously it is worth reading that opinion.
The Cass Review also found that WPATH’s guidelines lacked rigour and transparency in their development.
After all that, we should have no confidence in WPATH as an impartial authority. And PATHA winning a judicial review does not magically establish the safety and effectiveness of the treatments it champions. They are a dysfunctional band of activists and it is embarrassing that they are taken seriously.
Read what this judgment actually says. The judge accepted that Simeon Brown had a rational basis for restricting puberty blockers and he rejected the allegation that Brown was simply advancing NZ First’s “anti-woke” agenda.
The restrictions fell because of consultation failures and the judge’s conclusion that the prohibition on new prescriptions was disproportionate and unlawfully discriminatory.
I obviously utterly disagree with that conclusion. The uncertainty surrounding these treatments is why precaution should be exercised.
The Government must address the legal issues, consider its appeal options and establish safeguards that can withstand challenge. This cannot be where this ends. Our children are too important. And these are the most vulnerable children. Research shows that among kids who are given puberty blockers autism, previous sexual abuse, and other mental health disorders are prevalent.
The ruling arrives 17 days before the election. People can draw their own conclusions about that timing.
But this is another reason it is so important to back the current Government. Simeon Brown has been prepared to take this on, and I’m backing him to keep going.
Luxon’s answer during the leadership debate was wishy washy but Simeon has been solid and NZ First have been too. We need the Coalition back in to continue this fight.
The alternative barely bears thinking about. I half expect Labour and their gang to come up with the bright idea to make puberty blockers available at school tuck shops.
(That is sarcasm, by the way.)
My serious point is that children deserve adults willing to challenge crazes, demand proper evidence, and withstand the abuse that follows. I am willing to be one of those adults. I reckon Simeon is too. Are you?

lol You sound someone who was raised in a gated community where you had no interaction with Māori or gangs or poor people and have only read about them in books.
Gangs are bad, dude. Even the brown ones.
⚠️ Labour rises, Opp falls, and vice versa.
Ironically, the better Labour performs, the less likely Opp is to cross the 5% threshold - and the less likely Labour is to form a government.
Politics is, if nothing else, entertaining 🍿
This is why rugby union is dead - it doesn’t even compare to the level of cliffhanging entertainment the NRL provides. Insane game! 🤯

This is a painfully stupid take! 🤦🏾♂️
The race, sex, social class of people who develop a principle has no bearing whatsoever on whether that principle is true, just or useful. RC is committing the genetic fallacy.
He understands FS as much as a poodle understands astrophysics.
Impressed by Kuini Ngawai’s coronation speeches, also how she’s leading by example with hauora. Potentially powerful for Māori, given poorer health outcomes.
Tension brewing between her message of moving beyond victimhood and the boomer activist narrative of people like Sykes 👀
TOP already giving up on its core policy and along with it, its distinction and purpose!
It has pulled left and become another ideological leftist party with no meaningful distinction from others on the left 🤦🏾♂️
This is exactly why I resigned from the board.
Qiulae Wong now openly says the Opportunity Party is open to a CGT as an alternative to their Land Value Tax, and will negotiate with Labour on their CGT.
Labour’s proposed CGT sits at 28% and specifically excludes the family home, rural land and farms, exactly the assets captured by Opportunity’s proposed Land Value Tax.
This is significant as Wong has previously called Labour’s CGT “tinkering” and “minuscule”, so negotiations would clearly look to significantly increase its scope of capture and rate.

Seymour is 💯 percent correct.
