For all y'all that showed up for the March for Science "protests" but not for George Floyd and the BLM movement, I see you. This is why black people don't trust science, scientists, && the institutions that support them. #BlackLivesMatter #BlackandSTEM

IDK who needs to hear this but, Black folks standing in hours long lines to vote isn’t a victory, it’s voter suppression and intentional sabotaging of the system.

“If you show me a Black community where there’s some type of violent crime issue, I can show you a community where there’s a much longer history of failed public policy to support that community.”

We should also push our universities to ask for the same.
I COULD NOT explain what I am feeling better than what these two humans have shared. While I am so thankful to occupy this space of activism, a part of me longs to “just be a scientist.”
But this is all bigger than me, && I will fight for as long as it is needed.

Listen to #ReclaimingSTEM board member @TaxpayerScience on NPR talk about #BlackLivesMatter & their 7 demands for change to the chief of police in Cedar Rapids!
Their activism lead the council to listen to their demands 🙌🏽
On this episode of #RivertoRiver with @IPRBen, a conversation with Cedar Rapids activists, elected officials and police about the potential reforms that could come about as a result of the protests.

Thanks for asking me to join the DEI committee/teaching you about DEI.
I am busy creating a conference for minorities, writing a paper on conference experiences of minorities, and writing two papers on how best to teach minorities.
Ask somebody else, perhaps a white male.
I will be doing a "Syke a scientist" session next week w 5/6th grade ESL students. I have never done this before and would welcome any tips from those w experience! I know to show a bunch of pictures and keep it simple but what else should I keep in mind? #scicomm #inclusion
