On May 27, IRCC suspended immigration documents and travel for residents of Uganda, DRC, and South Sudan due to Ebola, delaying settlement of human rights defenders seeking safety in Canada.
Uganda is now Ebola-free, but measures remain until Aug. 28.

In the spirit of celebrating Pride Month 2026, we bring you a story of one of our activists, Fahad. He lived in the Kakuma refugee camp for 5 years under harsh living conditions before they were resettled in Canada, where they continue their activism.

“We Afghan girls still dream of being seen not as a brief headline but as human beings who deserve the right to education and freedom.
Sometimes it feels like the world has forgotten us.
In continuation of the story of Parwana, we bring you the other creative side of Parwana that is hidden and needs to be shown to the world.
She uses her voice and talent to spread awareness of issues girls like her face in a country where they don't have a voice.
Imagine what she could do if she had resources and freedom.
Your contribution could help give girls and women a better life and share their stories.

Meet "Parwana", a 17-year-old girl from Afghanistan who has two teenage brothers. For five years, she has not been allowed to go to school. "If I had been going to school, by now I should have been at university."
But because she is a girl, she is denied the chance to bring her dreams to life like her brothers.
For her inspiring full story, follow us! We hope Parwana’s words spark your desire to advocate for change for girls like her.
