“When he was at his darkest moments, I was scared to death for my child in many ways. I knew he was struggling. As a mother, especially working in the mental health field, for me to not be able to go in and fix it because he’s a grown man, it was tough.”
Lane Johnson’s family has lived with him through his mental health struggles. His mother, Ray Anne Carpentier, once offered him “pick yourself up by your bootstraps” advice. It briefly drove him away.
But they reunited and comforted each other — mother to son, and son to mother, through her battle with cancer.
Lane Johnson spoke about how he’s helping tend to health issues of mother, Ray Ann, and father, David.
Ray Ann has been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In 2023, I wrote about Lane’s strength in light of mental/physical strife.
