One thing I really hate about right wing fandom is that their bigoted complaining makes it really difficult to raise genuine critique of anything.

Star Trek is not just an aesthetic they can throw around. They focused on visual effects, frenetic pacing, and melodrama. It resulted in the show feeling hollow and kinda like a fanfic. A shame because there were so many good characters that deserved better development.

They did a little better with certain characters such as Saru, Tilly, and Adira, but what about Owo? We barely knew her. They offed Airiam the moment she got a smidgen of development. Lwaxana got more development in TNG than the Disco crew, and she was a guest character!

I'm not ranting because I'm a newtrek hater. Not at all. It's because I saw so much potential for greatness in Disco that was squandered. If the focus had been on telling stories rather than trying to force feed the audience adrenaline, it would have thrived. Rant over.
