So many people have DM’d me about this trailer and I’ll be honest, watching it made me physically throw up. I was COO from before FTX even had a name, it was my baby, and I was the last one out of the Bahamas after Sam got extradited. I lost everything I had on it and it took me a long time to get over, so I have zero interest in defending the people who caused this. The media loves the story that FTX blew up because we were all partying in the Bahamas, but the place I worked looked nothing like that. We had under 200 people in the core company at its peak, not counting subsidiaries, when other exchanges our size had thousands, so a lot of us were doing 16 to 18 hour days for over three years and barely had time to sleep, and whenever we walked in, day or night, Sam was at his desk. I worked with Caroline and never once saw her get aggressive like she does in this trailer. She’s quiet and mild, and often lost in her own thoughts. Most of us didn’t even know she and Sam were dating until we read about it after the bankruptcy, and I never saw him so much as put an arm around anyone. FTX’s collapse ruined so many people’s lives, including ours, and Netflix decided to make it a love story. Shame on you @netflix.
All in. Every time. Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle star as Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried in this limited series about the love scorned prodigies behind the FTX scandal. The Altruists premieres November 19.

It paid out 1000 to one for a bet where if you and I each picked an atom at random on the earth, we'd be about 100 sextillion times more likely to pick the same one than that parlay was to hit.

If we do not slow down, we will face catastrophic consequences in the immediate future. I don’t normally tweet about this, but I sincerely believe this is the most important and serious problem of our time. This is not a joke
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Cognition founder and 3x Olympiad gold medalist @scottwu46 on the Navier-Stokes solution: "It's actually insane...guys, we just solved Navier-Stokes with AI. That is absurd. And I don't think it's going to stop." "All of this stuff is just going to get done. It's hard to put into words if you're not familiar with the scale of it. But Navier-Stokes is a very fundamental problem about fluid dynamics and such. It's been around forever, basically. And lots of people have sunk lots and lots of time into it." "The fact that this can even just be done in like a week — it's insane."

>math professor spends a year on one of the hardest unsolved problems in math >"Navier-Stokes" >his drafts for the whole project went through codex sessions >openai had his logs in codex >suddenly rumor leaks AI solved it >he emails openai to ask what's going on >openai calls within days >"funny story, our model also solved it" >using his exact approach >asks openai: did you train on my sessions? >no answer
If I am reading this correctly, Tristan Buckmaster is alleging OAI has a resolution of Navier-Stokes(via Córdoba and Martínez-Zoroa’s program) which maybe used info from Buckmaster and Levent Alpöge’s private Codex sessions What the fuck is happening!!!

It'll be interesting to see the dynamics between depth at @entropyIO (singular focus on pre-IPO stocks) and breadth (@sershokunin is working on spot bridge, equities, commodities, and prediction markets). While other specific ventures have launched with less traction (@ventuals folded,@trasiaxyz is still very early stage), the biggest questions will be how they overtake @tradexyz in market share, how they hedge and handle risk after that because they now are the hedge market, and where they can ship fast and hit the edges (long-tailed early pre-IPO stocks / tokens). Having $100 mm usd/day volume of pre-IPO @AnthropicAI is not interesting. Having $1 mm usd/day of every hot pre-IPO pre-ICO stock and token that's super consensus is. The liquidity begets price discovery and vice versa, just like @Polymarket created the market. I also think that @wintermute_t doing their market making isn't a good nor a bad sign. Market Makers need skin in the game to deploy capital (because all day 1 ventures like this are loss-making relative to cost of capital), and for them to commit to this means they think the venture has a shot to succeed. Are they predatory? Maybe like a 2004 Shaq on the Lakers, they're better than retail but still much smaller footprint than Jump and Cyantarb which are the top 2 firms in market share in crypto (~50% and ~10%, Wintermute around 1%).
Interesting to see Anthropic open at $1.96T market cap. Rumors are roughly around $2T, expect to see this deviate quite a bit as we get closer to IPO. Only place in the world to speculate on Anthropic today, all on @HyperliquidX with markets operated by @entropyIO

Interesting disclosure from Ken Griffin via @CNBC that they have shed 80% of the SALP portfolio. Super high confidence that this was $45b levered more than 4 to 1 so at least $180b gross. Unwinding that $180b would absolutely have had an impact. Have felt it in the market.

6/ Where we overreached: provider-side “Connect for Compute” and external market-data sales. While possible, the letter is buyer-focused. The safer thesis is enterprise intelligence procurement, using model and revenue data internally for routing, risk and underwriting.

7/ Valuation remains tricky. At ~$8B versus a reported ~$140M July revenue run-rate, Stripe is paying ~57× revenue. Our $8.1B base case landed on price, but the deal still requires hypergrowth, enterprise mix and major Billing/Metronome/Radar attachment.
