We are excited to announce the release of @manager_micro v2.0.2_20230815, which includes a new feature in the “On-The-Fly Processor Pipeline” menu: Deskew! Broadly, this is useful for automatically deskewing, rotating, and projecting light sheet images in Micro-Manager. (1/7)
Magnetically-controllable antibodies!!!!!
🧲💉
Some exciting news to share — we've made the world's first magnetically controlled antibody! What is a magnetically controlled antibody? It's an antibody drug that you can turn on and off, wherever you want in the body. (1/9) xitter.cf/ashleevance/status/201…
Alright, I'm calling it. I'm over to the other place (rhymes with clue guy).

We present long-term stabilization of an oblique plane microscope (OPM).
By stabilizing the remote focus unit of an OPM, we can enable long-term acquisition without light-sheet drift.
The feedback signal comes from a laser, no fluorescence is expended.

Correction from @TanFad! It's actually the The Center for Advanced Light Microscopy (CALM) @UCSF that is building the #Snouty microscope! They have a great team there with @nico_stuurman, @KariHerrington and @micaelalasser (Instagram). A great location!😀

PSA: Heat-set inserts make stronger threads in a 3D print, and look quite tidy.
And thanks to @amsikking for running a thermal calibration on this exact King Snout lens!

Here I measure the axial shift of the focal plane of an AMS-AGY v2 objective (a.k.a KingSnout) at ~2.0um/K, with a CLTE of ~19e-6/K (similar to brass):

Following a poke from @RunningPhoton, I've fixed a bug in my KL divergence calculation function which means our parameter-free deconvolution approach now *really* has no hand-tuned parameters at all:

Feedback always welcome.

We (@AndrewGYork, @RunningPhoton, @microRussell and I) are still working on the manuscript describing our automatic parameter-free deconvolution approach, but we've made a Google Colab notebook where you can try it out without needing to install anything:

Made a prototype light trap out of aluminum shim stock and Musou black paint. Watching paint dry has never been so interesting. The matte finish is fantastic!

Did you know that nuclear pore complexes can turn up outside the nuclear envelope? Studying these, @JennySachweh, Bernhard Hampoelz and others uncover that the surrounding cellular milieu determines NPC composition via the nuclear transport system itself. #teamtomo #NPC A 🧵

Where is the optical axis? Finding it can be critical to building microscopes. Here's the back reflections at ~15cm from a collimated ~1mm⌀ 532nm laser aligned into the back of Nikon 40x0.95 air objective. Radially symmetric/concentric interference rings indicate good alignment.
Does anyone know what the effective focal length (EFL) and/or the mounting threads of @NikonInst's standard LWD 0.52 NA condenser lens is? Pic for context:

Woah cool! I'm going to try this O2/O3 mount for my snoutscope build at the @UCSF CALM
Replying to @amsikking
This corresponds closely with the O2-O3 'cross brace' solution from @JLazzariDean. Based on the above data, reversing one of the POLARIS-K2T mounts will neutralize their thermal effect, leaving just the aluminum cross brace and an ~exact cancelation:
