In this interview Simeon Brown said Wellington's speed limit plan calculated a BCR and it was "negative". I found that quite surprising - does anyone know where/if that's published?

Matt Doocey's well-known in Canterbury for advocating for higher speed limits on unsafe roads. I just found out he's also dedicated his life to improving mental health services ever since suffering head injuries in a car crash in his teens. thepress.co.nz/nz-news/35012…

"Doocey was in a serious car crash in his late teens that left him in hospital for weeks with serious head injuries... His head injuries meant he would get easily distracted and frustrated and eventually led to periods of anxiety and depression." Seems like a slight disconnect?!

We’ve extended the legal exemption for e-scooters, allowing you to use e-scooters with a max power output of 300 watts without them being classified as motor vehicles—so you don't need a driver's licence to ride, they don't need registration plates, and they can go on footpaths.

Despite not being that happy with the financial situation around Te Kaha, I reckon the video updates they put out are pretty cool. Some really awesome engineering in this project. youtube.com/watch?v=sliQEfHQ…

Today I learned that fuel tax doesn't all go to central government, a tiny fraction goes to the council in which it was sold. Does anyone know why that is?

Marseille’s light rail is an exercise in effectiveness. You can see there’s no BS like huge structures or widening. Just kerbs and bollards, footpath-extension platforms and basic overhead line running long articulated trams. It shows: last line cost just $NZ86 per km all up.
