Ohtani on Saturday silencing the doubters

The NLDS is just a few days away, which means it’s time to make some predictions. Will the Dodgers roll with a traditional 13/13 roster split, or load up on position players with a 14/12? And who gets those final spots? Josue De Paula? Hyeseong Kim? Edgardo Henriquez? READ: codysnavely.substack.com/p/c…

Ohtani took over the leadoff spot when Mookie Betts went down in 2024 and turned it into his own: Ohtani with Betts on the IL: .287/.399/.696, 188 wRC+ Now the script has flipped. Betts while Ohtani has been day-to-day/IL in 2026: .340/.441/.660, 199 wRC+ Dave Roberts said Ohtani will remain in the leadoff spot, but at some point, production has to outweigh precedent. If Mookie is healthy and Ohtani’s health remains uncertain, is it time to put Betts back at No. 1?
