We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work.
At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated.
We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

Lazy sabbath noon in Tel Aviv, sit down for breakfast at a nice cafe. Ten-twelve different tables on a porch (more inside, where the ceiling fans saves you from the city atmosphere), people speaking in three-four different languages. They have a pleasant Jewish way of ignoring each other, partly needed because everything's a little tight, though not cramped, & every table gets a bit noisy at some point, though not crass. But it's an easygoing atmosphere, you get the sense that you could chat with anyone if you felt like it; every time someone new shows up there are lingering glances, mildly curious, announcing nothing but a halfhearted hello.
You can hear the American Jewish tourists: They can't believe breakfast is $20. It's not a burrito, it's shakshuka, but same difference. When last did these people visit Tel Aviv? Was it ever not overpriced? That's just normal now. Why is nobody under 50 fat here? Nobody can afford it... How do you recognize American Jews in Tel Aviv? They're more formal in their athleisure than the locals; they're less confident, too. It feels like the locals could give lessons, but they wouldn't care enough to do it. Then again, they pay through the nose for the privilege.
Contrariwise, the Israeli Jews returning from tourism of their own complain in a gentle, weary weekend way--they travel a lot, it turns out, & they've learned over the last two years that now they're hated everywhere (they mean Europe, apparently they're European enough to think of America as beyond the edges of the map). Then they turn to one another & add another complaint: The young (who can't afford to travel) don't know how bad it is! I guess they must have met again after some time, after traveling, & after they noticed the incredulous resentment of their younger relatives. It's a relief to them to complain. Butters the tahini bread, you could say, makes everything go down smooth, it's not just eating, it's a job well done.
Everyone's having a bit of fun rehearsing complaints. The only table where there's any heat behind the words is three French Jews, two of them women. They're not young, you can hear it in their speech, fewer contractions, better enunciation, they talk like people who intended to make themselves not only heard, but listened to. Compared to the careless speed of Tel Aviv Hebrew, they sound professorial. & yet they're Tel Avivis, you can tell because the women no longer bother with makeup in the morning, but they still have the elaborate, yet restrained hand gestures. They're not badly dressed, but they no longer really care. Nobody in Tel Aviv looks at middle-aged women. All their rhetorical flourishes worthy of Third Republic politicians are wasted on some family disagreement. There's nothing left of the old France where the man was head of the house. They're not that assimilated, I guess--this guy is calm, he's used to bearing the burden of life disappointing these ladies--he doesn't take it personally.
It's a nice old fashioned place, not quite poor, pretty clean (which isn't normal in Tel Aviv), but it has the welcome feeling of having long been inhabited, not one of the antiseptic new cafes that rebel against whatever Jews call jem'enfichisme. Very few young people here, which is a relief for an hour. No young women with dogs. Fat waiter, late middle age, looks retarded, but maybe everybody looked this way a generation back. He's quite quick cleaning up tables, though, getting orders, delivering them, you wonder where he has so much energy--neglects nothing, but if you move from where he last saw you, he's confused. Life is pretty fast here, he's trying to keep up, he knows he should, it's expected, but it doesn't come natural to him, so everyone now & then he looks distracted & then comes back to it. Maybe he doesn't recognize the world anymore. He's good-natured, has enough English for the job, doesn't act like he'd rather be somewhere else. Somehow, that puts everyone at their ease. I like him, but I dunno Hebrew, so we're not going to chat.
Old-fashioned means, no cappuccino. The new imperial outpost Tel Aviv is all about the cappuccino. Here, you can only have the cafe-au-lait. Across the street, old fashioned shopping & new-fashioned couples, people zooming around on bicycles or electric scooters. Lots of dogs getting walked.
A stone's throw away is one of the few major sites hit by Iranian missiles in the summer. The ruins that aren't yet in repairs have huge Israeli flags wrapped around them; the high-rise next to them is mostly repaired, but it's the most baffling of all, since new drywall separations between offices are visible from outside (haven't installed the windows yet) next to blacked-out panels left over from the fire on the lower floors, whereas the top looks untouched, as though from another building.
Nearby, Allenby street (the liberator of Jerusalem & Damascus a century back) is torn up for work, a light rail is coming in. Buses here take about twice as long as google maps suggests (again, Americans just aren't ready for the facts on the ground), so it's good to see they're taking extreme measures to fix the traffic problem.

for a long time i said that antisemitism, particularly on the american left, was not as bad as people claimed.
i'd like to just state that i was totally wrong.
i still don't understand it, really. or know what to do about it.
but it is so fucked.
