Steam is making it easier to run Windows games on Linux.
Steam now automatically uses Proton when you add a non-Steam Windows game to your library. Before, you often had to enable it manually in the settings.
Proton is Valveâs tool that lets many Windows games run on Linux, including Steam Deck.
Itâs a small but useful change that makes playing games from other launchers or outside Steam easier, the feature is currently in the Steam Client Beta.

A new data breach involving Double Counter has exposed information connected to Discord users affecting around 275,000 unique email addresses.
According to Have I Been Pwned, the exposed data includes:
-Email addresses
-Discord usernames
-Names
-Geographic information
-Country and postcode for some paying subscribers
The breach was linked to a vulnerability in Metabase, the analytics platform used by Double Counter.
If youâve used Double Counter on Discord, check whether your email was affected and stay alert for phishing attempts or suspicious Discord messages.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Important clarification as the majority of people are misunderstanding this post.
Double Counter is a third party application used to detect alternative discord accounts. Discord themselves have nothing to do with this, Double Counter was breached, not Discord.

The social media ban for under-16s is just the start.
Lisa Nandy has admitted that the ban is merely a âstaging postâ. The Government can no longer claim that this is just about protecting children from online harms. It is about gaining greater control over what people can and cannot say online.
This is deeply chilling.
Exclusive:
Social media companies will be required to implement âhard checksâ on peopleâs ages such as demanding passports or driving licences under plans to stop children from using their platforms
The government is due to announce plans for a social media ban for under-16s in the coming weeks amid concerns that children are being exposed to harmful content
Ministers want to take a harder line on age verification to ensure that children are not using the platforms after concerns that a similar social media ban in Australia has had little impact
Under plans being considered by ministers, those using the sites will be required to submit their passports or driving licences or undergo credit checks to verify their age
The Australian government admitted this year that more than 70 per cent of under-16s still had âsome accessâ to platforms three months after the law changed in December 2025
Children reported that it was âeasyâ to circumvent the ban. They are only required to undergo basic screening â where users take a selfie and artificial intelligence estimates their age â to access platforms if they do not wish to upload official documents. In the most brazen cases, children were able to bypass the restrictions by drawing beards onto their faces
Others have resorted to using virtual private networks (VPNs) to bypass checks by pretending they are based in another country, or pointing their phoneâs camera at a screen showing an adult-looking face

Emmanuel Macron says American free speech is "the opposite of free speech." In his view, freedom only exists inside a "common framework" set by the state.
He compared posting an insult online to hitting someone in the street. Those are different things, because one is speech and the other is violence.
He wants people punished for posting "nonsense," with state-backed fact-checkers deciding what qualifies. He wants a verified identity behind every social media account. He has written to Ursula von der Leyen demanding the DSA be enforced "much faster, much more forcefully."

Microsoftâs official X account was hacked on Thursday, and attackers used the account to promote a fake cryptocurrency linked to the Clippy brand.
The account with 13 million followers, followed and reposted content from an account impersonating Microsoftâs Clippy assistant. Another Clippy-themed account was promoting a Clippy token, falsely claiming it was connected to Microsoft and MSFT.
Microsoft confirmed the account was compromised, removed the posts, secured it, and said it has no connection to the token.
The company also says it plans to take legal action.

PewDiePie says OpenAI banned him twice while he was working on his own AI model.
He claims the first ban was related to âdistillation,â while the second happened after he used AI to generate training data.
He has now shown off Ajax, a smaller AI model designed to run directly on a normal home PC. Itâs based on Qwen3.5-9B and is built to work with his own self-hosted AI setup
He also used the open-source Heretic tool to remove many of its built-in refusals, while keeping some safety limits.

I've been saying this for awhile, but "they" are NOT going to let us run open source models without verified ID and tracking. Mark my words. It's coming. One way or another. Just like 3D printing.

Thatâs racist, as some minorities may not have ID and therefore they wonât be able to exercise their right.
Oh, this only works for elections.

The RAM shortage could be here for a lot longer than expected.
Micron has already sold 75% of its 2027 memory output, and HBM prices for next year are expected to be much higher than in 2026.
Samsung also expects HBM to take up almost 30% of the industryâs DRAM production capacity in 2027, up from around 20% this year.
New factories are coming, but Micron says production ramps up slowly, so thereâs no clear timeline for when supply will finally catch up with demand.
You can expect higher prices for long time
