Here's a little snippet of our thought process in today's opening race at Gowran 🧠 Here is what you can pick up when listening to tAP that you will not get anywhere else 👇🏻 1) @dec_car targets a novice handicap run at Leopardstown on Dec 26th, won by Ataboycharlie as a potentially strong piece of form. 2) Given the clip they went in the above race, some horses that were up with the pace (i.e Zeeband), may have run better than their position suggested that day (41L back in 18th, which @Handy_Andy96 found amusing). 3) Andy then mentions the three horses that won/placed that day at Leopardstown (Ataboycharlie, Woodstream Lad and Park of Kings). Three horses you could back when upped in class next time (cough Ataboycharlie in the Liffey Handicap next week, cough 😷) 4) Andy then picks out Kilbarry Saint, who looked a non stayer over longer trips, she was having her first start at 2 miles today. 5) Zeeband finished third🥉 and get this, 66/1was freely available this morning about this chances. He was even 80/1 in a place. Kilbarry Saint was available at 25/1 this morning and returned a good second at 20/1 🥈. Singles (unless the first one wins) & E/W Trixie. 3:42 Cowardofthecounty 12/1 - Anyone that's listened to our pods this season know I've been harping on about Cowardofthecounty needing to at least attempt 10f. Well, here we are! Despite him being as about as popular as the TV license inspector at your front door in the market, he can't be left alone today. His peak form this season puts him bang there in this field. 4:12 Dark Viper 8/1 - Only one bad run to his name at this track. Ran out an easy winner here in July before suffering some interference at the Curragh and probably had his finishing speed blunted over 12f at Dundalk. He's only 2lb above that seemless victory in July and should give a good account of himself off top weight here today. 4:42 Too Boosy For Us 12/1 - Excellent run when third in the Petingo here in September. stood little chance in the Irish Cesarwitch on heavy ground over a trip that stretches him on the flat. Assuming that run didn't leave it's mark, he should be going very close here with conditions to suit. Bonus horse to keep an eye on 👇🏻 It's worth keeping tabs on Echoing Silence as she makes her chasing debut at Limerick today. I was blown away by her first two hurdles starts before it all went south in the spring. I expect her to resume progress over fences. Happy to let her win at a shade of odds on today, although I expect she's a mare that will be one of the top novices come the spring time.
