Excited to share that our work from RIKEN is now published in Nature! 🎉 We uncovered how protein intake during development shapes lifespan and identified a mechanism that transmits a “nutritional memory” into adulthood. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Is euchromatin really “open”? 🧬 Using super-resolution imaging🔬 our new study @NatureGenet reveals: Euchromatin forms condensed domains in live cells. Cohesin constrains them and prevents domain mixing for proper transcriptional insulation🚧 🔗nature.com/articles/s41588-0… (1/2)

Our new paper is online! We studied how RNAPII transcribes through overlapping dinucleosomes (OLDNs). OLDNs exhibit transcriptional directionality, and cryo-EM structures reveal that RNAPII drastically transforms their architecture during transcription. nature.com/articles/s41594-0…

(1/16) Our 3-lab collab (Mirny & Zechner) led by Harvey, Henrik & Jack is out: Q: How do enhancers & promoters interact in space (contact vs. action-at-a-distance) and time (stable vs. transient)? A: Transient E-P contact (~25-42 nm lasting ~10-20 sec): biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Hello world, meet 1,000× Expansion Microscopy. 1,000,000,000× expansion by volume! A gel that starts at a few centimeters will then expand to the volume of an Olympic swimming pool. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898… In our new bioRxiv preprint, work carried out between MIT and UMG, led by Helena Hu in collaboration with scientists from the labs of @eboyden3 Ed Boyden, Silvio Rizzoli, and myself, we present Thousandfold Expansion Microscopy. By enlarging biological specimens across multiple rounds of expansion, molecular-scale features, as small as the distances between adjacent amino acids, can be visualized with conventional optical microscopes. Democratizing super-resolution microscopy.
