Lucy Calkins reminds us that this year, "We will muddle through things together. We'll imagine next year together. We'll work to hold onto our values, despite the pressure to do otherwise, together. We'll come out the other side, ready to reshape a future." #TCRWP

Taking what worked back at school to our virtual book clubs. Making plans for reading and plans for thinking keep engagement, volume, and thinking high...all stores in our virtual reading folders aka google slides. #seshasjoy #seslearns #tcrwp

Never too early to start thinking about the beginning of next year. If we are still e-learning, start thinking about some of the things that make the strongest classroom foundation. How will you foster them virtually? #tcrwp

I smiled at a grocery store worker today to thank her & then realized I was wearing a mask so she had no idea. I cried. Then- I came home & made this, in case we need it to help kids. It’s imperfect & not relevant to every culture, so I’d love help! #tcrwp

Sharing on FB. These truly are the best doughnuts and I’m one of your mother’s out of state customers, though originally from SM.

WEE 2nd grade teachers are “leveling up” student writing by creating micro-progressions based on data from thin-slicing. Feeling empowered! #tcrwp @teachkate

Ss used the answer sheet from the preassessment to level up their classmate’s jots in small group. This also helped them to understand what THEY need to do to score level 4 on the post test. #LevelUp @Kel_TheBelle

How are you teaching main idea to your 4th graders?

So @tarantoannie just broke down the main idea strand for us by showing us how it grows across grades. Transparent Moment: 🗣 I HAVE TO STEP MY GAME UP! It cant just be boxes/bullet small groups! When are we connecting parts? Identifying multiple MI? Ranking details? #TCRWP

When we give writers the on-demand we are always looking for things kids can do IN their writing. Today we handed on-demands back and set kids up to revise. Now we not only have data on what kids can do as writers but what kids THINK of as process! #TCRWP

This = 💯. I find it helpful for kids to jot a chosen story idea on a Post-it so I can make quick small groups prior to drafting if need be. Posting publicly helps me & the child recall the story idea in case a writer forgets (it happens) or changes her mind (also happens) #tcrwp – at Brooklyn, NY
From story ideas to story arcs! After drafting a few story arcs, 4th grade writers chose their final story arcs and made drafting folders. Our drafts will go right in these folders so we can keep our draft and story arcs close together! @TCRWP #tcrwp

This!
"If you walk into an AP class they having fun, laughing and talking. But if you walk into an intervention class and a child is starting on page 1 of a program and they have to go to page 365… somebody is doing something wrong and it’s not the kids.” Anna Osborn #ILA19 #G2great

Data by itself is not data! To look at levels and not look at other things isn’t real data! We need to be careful not to look at levels as the that’s all there is so much more to look at and think about! – at Bronx, NY
This reader’s notebook is 🙌🙌🙌🙌. When kids have the power to be creative, look what thinking work can happen #ses #tcrwp
