Democracy isn’t perfect, but it can’t function if billionaires decide elections. In most European countries, Musk couldn’t do this because million-dollar campaign donations aren’t allowed. When the rich have vastly more influence than voters, that isn’t democracy

I'm working on a video essay that addresses this, among other things
so basically hating ai and calling it slop is a defense mechanism against the grief for the massive change that’s coming.

Silicon Valley is about to trigger the entire Western civilization with AI, and it comes down to two frameworks. There are two universal frameworks that reliably describe and predict human behavior and needs, the Self-Determination Theory and the Tripartite Theory of Meaning. AI runs afoul of both of them. AI threatens jobs and livelihoods, which has numerous downstream consequences: Autonomy - if AI takes your job, your choice space is constrained. Competence - if AI takes your job, you lack the skills and ability to navigate in the world. Relatedness - if AI takes your job, you lose a social network that valued you. Next is meaning: Coherence - if AI takes your job, your life story, and the story you understood about the world, no longer makes sense. Purpose - if AI takes your job, you need to renegotiate your entire mission in life. Significance - if AI takes your job, you will feel like you matter less to your family and society as a whole The resistance to AI is because, at a deep unconscious level, people know this is coming.

Or, if the left adopts it and it fits their social goals (a cooperative, high-trust society with generous social benefits) and achieves electoral success, was it really a right-wing policy or a policy of good governance?

Denmark’s left wing discovered that their social system required danish cultural norms in order to function, and that culturally diverse immigration would destroy it. So, they campaigned on the idea that all immigrants must adopt danish culture or leave. As a result of this focus on cultural preservation, the right wing shriveled.
'Denmark, almost alone in the western world, has a very strong centre-Left, and the main reason is that, uniquely, it followed its voters on immigration. ... They actually did what the voters wanted.' On Danish exceptionalism, by @edwest edwest.co.uk/p/on-danish-exc…

Fresh evidence: 6 months of at least $250/mo per kid to 9 out of 10 kids in the US had *NO NEGATIVE IMPACT* on the employment status of their parents. This includes those who were previously excluded from the CTC for not earning enough money to claim it. nber.org/papers/w29823

#euroviisut2023
