We're looking forward to connecting with colleagues in the photonics and optics community at the @OpticaWorldwide PECC Summit 2026 next week in Sunnyvale.
As demand for high-capacity connectivity continues to accelerate, advances in photonics are opening new possibilities for how networks are designed, deployed, and scaled.
At Taara, we're bringing these innovations into real-world applications through high-capacity links that complement existing fiber infrastructure to integrated photonics that make light-based connectivity more compact and scalable.
We're excited to exchange ideas with industry leaders, researchers, and innovators working to advance the next generation of optical technologies.
See you at #APCPECC2026!
18 months ago, we spun out of @Theteamatx, with a bold mission to connect the world using beams of light. 💫
Yesterday, we welcomed X’s leadership team to our new home to show them how that vision is coming to life.
Touring our new cleanroom and labs together was a incredible reminder of how far we’ve come. Beyond the tech, sharing our culture, our rapidly growing team, and hosting an open Q&A on our key spinout learnings made for a reminiscent, meaningful day.
Grateful to Astro Teller and the team at X for these special moments of reflection, fun blast to the past, and their continued belief in Taara as we accelerate the global deployment of wireless optical connectivity fabric.
Here's to the next moonshots coming! 🚀
Great conversations start when technical rigor meets real world monkeys. ✨ 🐒
A warm thank you to Scott Bicheno of @telecoms and Iain Morris of @Light_Reading for hosting our founder, Mahesh Krishnaswamy, on the latest episode of their podcast. 🎙️
Mahesh shares Taara's journey from beaming light between floating stratospheric balloons during Project Loon to testing that breakthrough technology closer to Earth, with the help of some monkeys, ultimately turning precise control of light into Taara Photonics Platform that can connect more people, places, and things needing high-speed connectivity. Together, they dive deep into the moonshot mindset born at @Theteamatx.

The next era of digital infrastructure will take more than new technology. It will take new ways of thinking about how we build, scale, and connect it.
Later this month, Mahesh Krishnaswamy, Chander Chawla, and Ellie Joo will represent Taara at @GSMA inaugural #NovaFutureSummit26 in Napa.
We’re looking forward to conversations on the technologies, business models, partnerships, and investment needed to turn ambitious ideas into infrastructure at global scale.
See you in Napa.
We’re excited to welcome Eric Chow as SVP of Finance to Taara’s executive leadership team.
Eric brings deep experience at the intersection of finance, technology, and company building. Throughout his career, he has led mergers and acquisitions at @Microsoft , @HP , and @Visa , and most recently helped build and scale the finance function at @KodiakRobotics through its deSPAC. Across these roles, he has worked alongside companies bringing transformative technologies from ambitious ideas to scaled businesses.
As Taara expands its global footprint and brings wireless optical communication to more markets, Eric will lead our global finance function, helping us scale our financial operations, drive strategic growth, and build the financial foundation for Taara’s next chapter.
His experience navigating complex transactions, scaling finance organizations, and supporting technology companies through critical stages of growth will be an important addition as we continue building Taara into a global connectivity company.
Please join us in welcoming Eric Chow to Taara!
What does it take to move photonics from breakthrough technology to infrastructure applications at scale?
Following ECOC 2026, Devin Brinkley, SVP of Engineering at Taara, will be at @OpticaWorldwide Global Photonics Economic Forum in Málaga, joining industry leaders for conversations around the technologies, partnerships, and investment shaping the future of photonics.
If you’ll be at the #GPEF2026 on September 24 to 25, connect with Devin Brinkley in Málaga. We’d love to talk about where photonics and wireless optical communication are headed next.

For more than 15 years, @Theteamatx has been turning ambitious ideas into technologies that reshape industries.
From Google Brain to @Waymo and @Wing, each began as a moonshot built to tackle a difficult problem. Today, Taara is proud to be part of the next generation of companies carrying that mission forward.
As @FastCompany explores, @Theteamatx continues to refine how breakthrough technologies move from research to real world impact, creating a repeatable pathway for moonshots to become independent companies with the opportunity to scale globally.
Taara began as an X project exploring new ways to connect the world. Today, our wireless optical communication technology is deployed in more than 20 countries, helping operators expand network capacity with high speed connectivity delivered through beams of light. Taara is one of the first companies backed through X's new partnership with @SeriesXCapital as it enters its next phase of growth.
Thank you to @FastCompany for the feature, and to @Theteamatx for continuing to build an environment where ambitious ideas can become technologies with global impact.

Getting bandwidth to a data center is only part of the challenge. Getting it to customers is where the real work begins.
That's exactly what @LiquidInTech has done in Lagos, one of Africa’s fastest growing commercial hubs.
By combining fiber with Taara Lightbridge, Liquid has rapidly extended high capacity bandwidth from @africa_dc to nearly a dozen enterprise customers across Lagos, including internet service providers, bank headquarters, hotels, and a utility company.
“For Liquid, deployment speed has been one of the most significant advantages…. Taara links can often be installed and activated within hours, allowing Liquid to ensure it is remaining true to its mission to create a digitally connected future that leaves no African behind,” said Eugene Uka, Acting Chief Executive Officer at @LiquidInTechNG.
Liquid is now exploring opportunities to expand the use of wireless optical communication into additional regions across Nigeria.

Long before wireless optical communication connected cities, it connected balloons.
One of Taara's earliest prototypes demonstrated high speed laser communication between balloons 100 km apart in the stratosphere. That breakthrough laid the foundation for today's wireless optical communications technology.
From precision beam alignment to the Taara Photonics Platform, it's a story of continuous engineering and iteration.

For the last century, the @ITU has been modeling the propagation of radio frequency from 3 hertz to 3 Terahertz. But at 193 Terahertz, wireless optical communications behave differently through the atmosphere.
"Availability has always been the question operators ask first about wireless optical communications. The answer can't come from radio models alone."
Taara Link Planner turns nearly a decade of field experience into a practical planning environment, helping operators evaluate links with greater confidence before anything is installed.

How do you know a wireless optical link will perform before it's ever installed?
Today we're introducing Taara Link Planner—the industry's first planning platform built specifically for next generation wireless optical communications.
Built on nearly a decade of R&D originating at @theteamatx, Taara Link Planner helps operators evaluate line of sight, estimate link availability, and plan deployments with greater confidence before installation.

“ @ericsson predicts that by 2030, the global backhaul market will be split almost evenly between microwave (49%) and fiber (51%).” But the conversation is no longer about choosing fiber or microwave. It's about building the right mix of technologies for each deployment.
A recent report from @GSMAi, authored by @shivputcha and Vivek Gautam, explores how the next generation of mobile networks will evolve as data traffic grows, AI workloads expand, and Open RAN and AI RAN reshape network architectures.
That is why emerging technologies like wireless optical communication are becoming an important part of the transport toolbox to help fill the coverage and capacity gaps in between fiber and radio.
The future of connectivity isn't defined by a single transport technology. It's defined by how intelligently operators combine them.

In a world demanding more data, can we deliver it for less? 🌐💡
Driven by relentless pace of human innovation and emerging applications of AI, machine-to-machine communication is on track to outpace people as the primary flow of information.
To build next-generation networks, we have to look past the upfront costs and measure what truly matters: the cost per gigabyte of data delivered per kilometer over the full lifecycle.
On Tuesday, July 14th, we are sitting down with @GSMAi to look at the network economics of the present and future. Join us for a lively conversation and interactive Q&A!
