Last week, TCPA was pleased to host @ERCOT_ISO board members & @PUCTX Commissioner Jackson at several of our companies’ power plants in the Houston area. The tour included a CCGT, LM 6000 fast start peaker & the largest power plant in Texas that produces over 3,700 MW.

The thermal fleet in ERCOT has performed very well during Winter Storm Enzo, exceeding @ercotiso expectations. Forced thermal outages for January in the MORA - monthly operating & resource adequacy - report showed a low-end expectation of 9,919 MW in unplanned thermal outages.

Actual forced thermal outages just after midnight on 1-21 were 6,358 MW or 36% below the low end of what ERCOT expects. While outages are normal and expected, TCPA is proud to highlight strong performance by thermal generators this winter.

In August, TCPA members were honored to have seven projects totaling 3,826 MW selected by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to advance to due diligence under the Texas Energy Fund (TEF) In-ERCOT Generation Loan Program.

Today, the PUCT endorsed an additional 1,231 MW of new generation resources by TCPA members to proceed to due diligence under the TEF. This brings the potential new generation by TCPA members in this program to 5,057 MW.

New: The @PUCTX announces Potomac Economics' Jeff McDonald as the new ERCOT Independent Market Monitor. The previous IMM Carrie Bivens, who was a feature in discussions following the 2021 storm/blackouts, stepped down back in November.
