He was SP 28/1, clearly expected to need the run, and he was given an introductory ride in the rear. Ray Dawson held him up before keeping on in the closing stages. That came over 7f & they step up to the mile today. He is related to the very useful INDALO for the same connections & will hopefully put experience to good use and get a nice early position this afternoon. Varian is 23% with 2yo second runs the past three seasons. 🐎 Stall 1 wouldn’t be the pick but if IMPERIALISM steps forward for his encouraging debut effort he should be bang there at the finish in this. He was given an easy time of things at Kempton over the mile. He didn’t have a great draw and Oisin was happy to take it easy and let him finish off his race. He did that encouragingly and being out of a Pivotal mare there is every chance he enjoys today’s soft conditions. Balding landed this in 2021 with a similar type and often leaves plenty to work with first time out. ❤️ if you are tailing today (18+)

STORM FORCE MAX is a US dirt bred horse so you can mark up his debut effort at Salisbury which came on soft ground. There was money that day which suggests he’s working well at home & you can expect improvement given the yard are 19-108 with horses having their 2nd run the past three seasons. The favourite will be tough to beat but I’m hoping Billy gets out from stall 1, puts experience to use & gives him something to think about. DADDY STAR represents a yard that operate at over 28% with 2-y-o’s having their second run in October. That’s an excellent strike rate and this daughter of No Nay Never finished second to a well-touted rival on debut. That winner is entered in the G3 Horris Hill at the weekend so you’d be disappointed if that form isn’t strong enough to win a race like this. Improvement is expected, well drawn & top jockey booking. LADY’S GRACE is related to the very smart Audience & she was sent off 6/4 for her debut at the start of the month. She was clearly in the need of the experience that day missing the kick before finishing well. You have to believe she can improve for that experience which would make her tough to beat in this restricted event. Stall 1 is a positive - however she wouldn’t want to be missing the kick again from the inside box. ARTHUR CARROT represents a yard having a great time with their 2-y-o crop and a mark of 74 looks workable. This is a decent race where a few are open to improvement, but with 4 places on offer I think this son of Perfect Power represents value. He will improve for the extra furlong, has a nice draw & Billy is booked to ride. Caught the eye when second on debut to a rival now rated 86. LAHAN KINGMAN was entered in a Group1 at the start of the season after a pleasing debut at Newbury last season. That definitely hasn’t gone to plan, she is now 0-6 & sports blinkers having looked awkward, however her latest run saw her in much better light and she may be one to work back up the handicap as she matures. This is a drop in grade; early drift suggests they may be waiting for another day, but hopefully the market speaks positively later in the afternoon. 18+
