So in conclusion, shut up about his extension.
Not sure people realize how helpful Harden was not only in his financial flexibility to add Peyton Watson but also behind the scenes in recruiting Peyton Watson.

Harden's career earnings will now reach $511 million, making him the fourth player in NBA history to eclipse the $500 million mark, joining the 76ers' LeBron James, the Rockets' Kevin Durant and the Warriors' Stephen Curry.
Harden turns 37 next Wednesday (Aug. 26), and when the 11-time NBA All-Star officially signs, he will become the second player in league history to sign for over $90 million in guaranteed salary at age 37 or older, with LeBron being the other.
BREAKING: James Harden has agreed to a new three-year, $97 million contract to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, with a player option and a trade kicker, agents Mike Silverman, Troy Payne and Brandon Grier of Equity Sports told ESPN.

Look at the multiple scoring avenues and the defenders he’s doing it to. AT 37 years old.

"He's 30 out of 450...and Darius Garland was in the 60s. You guys gotta start to rework your thoughts on this league if you think he's trash. It kind of underscores some of the mechanical issues that we have with the roster that we have to have James Harden out there 40 minutes/night at age 36..."
🚨 @SportsBoyTony sounds off on fans that want to focus on the negative with #Cavs G James Harden

➡️ @SportsBoyTony and @KenCarman react to the latest on the #Cavs and James Harden, domino effect of a potential multi-year deal
Daryl Morey decided James Harden wasn’t worth paying 3 years ago, took a gap season with the MVP peaking, signed a different max player, missed the playoffs, didn’t buy at the deadline the 1 season they finally beat the Boston Celtics, and then watched that same player he refused to pay 3 years ago help bring his team to an Eastern Conference Finals after he said nobody in the conference added an impact player

You are seeing proof of concept for the trade
James Harden is able to absorb All-NBA caliber defenders, can make plays in isolation, and has helped a supercharge the bigs
Having a player who does that and can credibly guard 2-4 (He guards, he really does) is huge
Spent time tonight on Paul Reed even; you can’t do that with a smaller guard
Darius Garland will be an all-star caliber player for years to come but Harden is an All-NBA guy still & such a unique fit with this core
*They also did it to have more optionality in the event that they lost earlier than expected, they are getting out in front of the small guard market (See: Trae Young)
