I made this Twitter account for academic purposes—with the sole intent to continue to immerse myself in the voices and thoughts of the scientific community. But what’s going on in Ukraine is deeply personal. 🇺🇦

I spent 10 years of my life at DiscGenics. I tried to keep my head down, do good science, and support my staff. But, it got to be too much. Here is the story of what happened, which I am sharing because I don't want it to happen again to other women. thedailybeast.com/top-scient…

When the Russian invasion began, the bitter feeling of being completely unable to help my friends in Ukraine was debilitating. I never imagined that the an effort to help my homeland would bring me to the office of my congressional representative.
Grateful for the chance to meet Tonia Tsinman and her mom, Oksana. Tonia's family immigrated from Dnipro, Ukraine in 1998 & she's spent the last two months rallying support across the Commonwealth for the Ukrainian people. What an honor it was to sign her Ukraine flag poster!

I’m grateful for @RepLoriTrahan taking time to listen to our concerns and hope that we can continue the conversation for how to most effectively help the Ukrainian people!

It has been a devastating 2 weeks for Ukraine. For my dear friends. As an American, it has been equally devastating to see the US shy away from key steps that could help Ukraine in a time of desperate need. I realize that not everyone may agree, but this is how I feel👇
Ukrainians have proven to the world that they are willing to stop tanks with their bare hands to defend their country and democracy against russian invasion. #PlanesForUkraine is the least the world can do to #StandwithUkraine. @StateDept @SecBlinken

"The whole world seems to admire the Ukrainian fight against Putin. But Ukrainians do not need empty words. Neither do we need a Ukraine Genocide Remembrance Day, with officials in different countries tweeting 'Never again.'"

..."The “never again” moment is happening now, and the West is failing to prevent it." Read that last part again. In my opinion, history is repeating itself. I desperately don't want to believe that the world has so easily forgotten its recent past. #NoFlyZone #StopPutinNOW

It’s where I was born and partially grew up. Some of my dearest friends live there. Hearing from them that they have no way to leave and are scared about their future is heartbreaking. Having no way to help is devastating. The sheer fact that this is happening is infuriating.

All I can do is hope with every fiber of my being that my loved ones are safe and that those who are able to do something about this do more than just watch. #Ukraina #UkraineCrisis

I’m going to guess that anyone who has ever done histology will now wish their lab had one of these!! I know I certainly do! :)

Oh hey! That’s me! Feels surreal to be posting this, but I’ll be defending my thesis this Friday at 11AM EST. If you’re interested in learning about how physical cues can impact meniscus/fibrous tissue development and growth, details are below! :)

Given that I just re-read my proposal and am in the process of writing the thesis, this REALLY resonates 🤦‍♀️

Congrats to @TTsinman on her recent publication in the FASEB journal entitled, "Intrinsic and growth-mediated cell and matrix specialization during murine meniscus tissue assembly." Add this to your reading list this week! Paper link: doi.org/10.1096/fj.202100499…
