Today, Solana gets a huge upgrade.
We are finally releasing LaserStream.
TL;DR — the fastest, most reliable way of streaming Solana blocks, txns, and account data via gRPC.
LaserStream comes with:
- optimized shredstream (receive data before anyone else)
- historical replay & persistence (if you disconnect, start from the slot where you disconnected and never miss data)
- extreme redundancy (powered by many redundant node clusters) so you never worry about downtime or your stream falling behind
- regional endpoints for all major regions (tokyo, frankfurt, newark, pittsburgh, salt lake city, amsterdam, singapore) — no need to wait for node availability or buy an entire node
- listen up to 250,000 addresses per connection; up to 100 simultaneous connections
- ready-to-go client SDKs (optional)
- works with existing gRPC code

Anchor has a future, but it needs to change quickly to catch up
So here's the plan:
Next version of Anchor will be V1. V1 will be much the same as 0.X with a number of changes:
- Borsh to 1.X
- Removal of dead code
- Removal of various footguns
- CU optimizations
- No more nightly build for IDLs
and more.
While this is a good start, this isn't enough to catchup with the current focus on CU optimizations and various needs of Solana developers today. So how do we fix that?
Anchor V2 will be a rebuild from the ground up of Anchor, taking all the learnings we've had over the years to redesign Anchor to be heavily CU optimized and performant, while still easy for new developers to onboard to.
Pinocchio will be the entrypoint for Anchor V2. It's still the early stages of design past that, but I'd love to hear your feedback.
If you could rewrite Anchor from scratch, what would you change? What would you include?

Solana cross-chain protocols that rely on cross-chain messaging functionalities, such as event emissions or returning data, encounter some significant limitations.
For CPI calls, you’re stuck with set_return_data, which has a hard 1024-byte cap. If you go over that, you get a ReturnDataTooLarge error, and the entire call fails with no result, no fallback.
For non-CPI use cases, you emit events with emit!, but all logs in a transaction share a 10kB limit. If your event is too large, it just gets silently truncated with no error, but also no complete data.
In both cases, oversized results can break your integration. CPI callers are hit especially hard, since it can fully block cross-chain message handling.
The best practice: Store the full result in an external account and have the client or validator fetch the data directly from there. It adds a bit of complexity but avoids all the silent failures and size caps.
