Self-advocates want NYS lawmakers to provide an unrestricted 3.2% cost-of-living increase in the Budget to fully cover all costs associated with supporting people with disabilities to enjoy great lives. #InvestInME

Self-advocates want NYS lawmakers to include money for a Direct Support Wage Enhancement (DSWE) in the Budget. The DSWE is essential to recruit and retain the staff who support people with disabilities. #InvestInME

DSPs are more than caregivers and their dedication deserves fair wages and better working conditions.
We're counting on @GovKathyHochul @CarlEHeastie and @AndreaSCousins to prioritize investments for this essential workforce in the final budget!

@GovKathyHochul @CarlEHeastie and @AndreaSCousins if you agree, #InvestInDSPs and include a DSWE for direct support staff in the final budget.

A DSP wage enhancement, passed in the Senate 1 HOUSE, will give DSPs the living wage they deserve for caring for our most medically frail: people on ventilators, G-Tube fed, dementia, etc. DSPs love their work, but the pay makes them leave

WNY Delegation, please continue to advocate for & pass in the final budget a 3.2 % UNRESTRICTED COLA for DSPs, all frontline staff, and inflationary costs. Bills have to be paid for sites to be open and for people to have jobs to go to. Thank you!

Heading into the week energized by last week’s visit with our members in Jamestown⚡. The @NYSUT members at The Resource Center give tirelessly to their clients. NY needs to include a 3.2% COLA for nonprofit providers in the enacted budget so workers like these can be given the respect and fair compensation they deserve. @TRCorg @NYSUTWNY

Meet my new friend Ann, a resilient soul who survived a tragic accident in '85, struck by a drunk boater. Now, she's embraced by the compassionate @NYSUT members who care for her and support her each day at The Resource Center in Jamestown, NY. Let's ensure these dedicated staff receive the fair compensation they deserve for their invaluable work. Include a 3.2% COLA for nonprofit providers in the enacted budget @TRCorg @NYSUTWNY

We couldn’t agree more — representation matters. But so does resource stability, equity & accessibility. To truly show that NY values those with I/DD, the government must invest in the support systems that allow them to thrive, starting with an 8.5% COLA in this year's budget!
This is an important step for furthering inclusivity.
Representation matters, and New Yorkers are helping to lead the way!
