I'm out with my latest @TPPF research - this time on a grave topic: our lack of serious civil defense preparations in the face of dangers arising from great power conflict not seen since the Cold War. The good news is Texas can do something about it.

I sat down with the @TPPF to talk about what is really driving up the price of health care in Texas: uncompensated care, federal mandates and the gaps taxpayers end up paying for.
This is one of my top priorities going into the 90th #txlege. #HD130

ERCOT's rising electricity prices were never about the cost of making power. They're about the cost of reliably getting it to your outlet, and households are paying the most for it.

In: @TPPF files 2 federal lawsuits challenging FAA restrictions on volunteer pilots completing charitable flights for Wings of Mercy.
“This case involves separation of powers under the Constitution,” said TPPF Senior Attorney Ted Hadzi-Antich. “Just as courts have the final say in interpreting legislation enacted by Congress, so too courts should have the final say in interpreting regulations promulgated by administrative agencies. When federal agencies arrogate those powers to themselves, we will step in to ensure the Constitution is honored.”

Wings of Mercy is a charitable organization that has spent the past 35 years arranging free flights for patients in rural and underserved communities. Its network of volunteer pilots flies patients to appointments at world-class facilities like the Mayo Clinic, the University of Wisconsin Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic. The organization is funded entirely by private donations—patients and their insurers pay nothing.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has claimed authority to regulate such organizations and their pilots like a commercial airline, based on an improper reading of federal law and its own regulations.
The FAA Modernization and Reform Act (2012) requires the FAA to allow pilots to accept reimbursement for fuel costs on charitable medical flights, subject to a few enhanced safety requirements related to the pilot’s training and experience.
The FAA ignored that mandate, choosing instead to treat any reimbursement of a pilot’s expenses as flying “for compensation or hire.”
The cost is real. In July, a volunteer pilot paid $460 to fly part of a Wings of Mercy mission to the Mayo Clinic. Wings of Mercy had the funds and would have reimbursed him, but the FAA’s interpretations stood in the way. So long as those interpretations remain in force, fewer pilots will be available to help transport patients in need.
In response, we've filed two federal lawsuits asking the courts to enforce the law Congress actually enacted, rather than giving agencies unchecked power to interpret the rules that govern our lives.

Three years ago, we laid out a path to unwind federal policies that were pushing Americans toward electric vehicles regardless of consumer demand.
Another major piece of that agenda is now in place: the Trump administration is close to finalizing its rollback of the Biden-era CAFE standards.
Combined with the repeal of federal vehicle GHG regulations, the end of federal EV subsidies, and actions challenging California’s separate vehicle mandates, President Trump's promise to "end the EV mandates" is very close to being realized.
Our research shows that these actions will save consumers tens of billions of dollar per year by removing the subsidies and hidden fees that were amounting to more than $50k per EV sold.
Read our original research linked below 👇
President Trump says he has approved new fuel economy standards aimed at rolling back Biden-era rules that his administration has characterized as an EV mandate.
Trump says the new standards will give automakers more flexibility and lower vehicle prices, arguing Americans were being pushed toward cars they didn't want.
The president says the shift comes alongside $100 billion in planned investment in American auto manufacturing, declaring, "The Plants are coming back, and Jobs are returning."

Today is a monumental day for college athletics.
The United States Senate voted to protect the hundreds of thousands of student athletes currently competing in college sports, the millions who will follow in their footsteps, and every college sports fan who wants to preserve this great American tradition for generations to come.
After years of discussions and months of intense deliberations, we achieved what many said was impossible and succeeded in getting the Protect College Sports Act through the Senate with a huge bipartisan vote.
I am proud of our success, and I trust the House of Representatives will remain focused on bringing stability to college sports by delivering the Protect College Sports Act to President Trump’s desk without delay.
