We’re delighted that our upcoming Mary Barnes exhibition - Rebirth & Revolution - will also feature What You See Is Where You're At, a short film by Luke Fowler. This collage of 'found' and archived recordings provides an insight into the experiences of Kingsley Hall's residents.

ALT A still from Luke Fowler's film, What You See Is Where You're At (2001), which provides an insight into the experiences of Kingsley Hall's residents. The image is black and white, and has a grainy quality. It focusses on two people hand in hand, caught midway through a dance reel. Other figures can be made on the periphery - dancing, observing.

“Maybe it’s worthwhile going back to day one, to the Lumière brothers, to the invention of cinema. In what ways can that be relevant now? I was struck by the joy of these early films.”
