Another massive flash flood has hit #Nepal today. This time the Manaslu/Tsum Valley - effectively closing that trek. No fatalities reported yet.
Despite "officials" saying all these treks are open. I warned not to trek for several weeks post rain thelongestwayhome.com/blog/n…
Kathmandu to Pokhara road link is broken. And will be for the next month at least. This is the honesty a #nepaliscalling campaign needs. Not going around saying "everything is fine" - just come. Flights & jeeps destroy budgets at near $150 pp one way.
List of missing trekkers in Langtang Valley right now. This does not mean they were in the flood. It means they passed the checkpoint into the valley. Communications in & out of the valley are broken. Hopefully they are safe at a village inside the valley until the area is opened
Again, not political, #Nepal's Prime Minister lists out what has been done so far. Something mainstreams media is unable to do it seems.
Only point I can see which is off, is that someone somewhere did refuse international on the ground help, that has since been reversed.
Not political, but the statement from the Nepali Prime Minister pretty much captures what is really happening at the moment in #Nepal.
It differs from the news media & social media frenzy going on at the moment.
Some of the videos of the flood in #nepal today is disturbing to say the least. Context from the audio: family / relations watching as the flood heads towards their homes, family, friends below etc. Utterly terrifying.
The flooding tragedy in Tibet/Nepal today. The 400 "tourist" number needs to be broken down a little in regards to Nepal tourism. The vast majority seem to have been on Mount Kailash tours as opposed to "trekking in Nepal".
The Annapurna Circuit is not dead. It's not the 21 day trek it used to be. But, you can still do it virtually road-free 8-12 days, or if you follow me 13-15 days completely road free & with no NATT trails 😇
In 2008, I launched a sight-impaired podcast on TLWH bit.ly/4vaXGrZ using early text-to-speech technology. When the software closed, the audio stopped. Today, the Nepal Uncovered Podcast brings that original page back to life: bit.ly/4uL1KPG
