When I heard over the scanner there was violent commotion inside Popstar Shawarma, I rushed there as soon as I could to support Azmi. I was shocked to see that he had actually been involved, and was bleeding from his eye and hand. Azmi is exactly the type of restauranteur that makes San Francisco so great, but I've always been worried about his business' survival due to the lack of improvement in conditions on 6th Street. he has consistently had to deal with the BS on 6th Street. But when I saw that UNREAL FOOTAGE from inside, it became clear that it is his own human survival that was most at risk. We need to do better for our business owners and help maintain street and safety conditions that allow them to focus on their craft and not worry so much about getting stabbed with their own kitchen knife. I am so thankful this was not another tragedy claiming the life of an innocent San Francisco loving victim. I hope Mayor Lurie and others are just as thankful, and I hope this motivates them to work harder to create the change that is needed. I'm glad he visited Azmi after seeing that footage. But unlike the Mayor, Azmi doesn't have a security crew surrounding him at all times when he works on 6th Street. Please support Azmi Shawarma on 6th Street and tell your friends to do the same, before that opportunity passes us up.
