Warda Farah’s kupu brings a sense of validation. Thank you @WFarahslt , for the mauri and safety your words revive in me. Decolonising a Eurocentric profession while re-Indigenising self is exhausting. I hope my Māori SLT teina inherit a profession that asks less simply to belong
Incredibly proud to be part of this team. Transforming the status quo and the future of the profession 👌🏿

Presented at the Australasian Intermediary Conference. I addressed being the only indigenous presenter in the only concurrent slot 👀, perpetual recolonization through assessment and reporting, data sovereignty & manamotuhake, and Te Tiriti as a global blueprint. #DecolonisingCA
Privelaged to be involved in the development of the Aotearoa FASD guidelines. Reo is a tāonga a connection to taonga a tōku Ihoā. any exploration of language by SLTs must be done centered on wairua.
SLTS read the ax kaupapa.

Commitment to rejecting the ever-present invitation to re-colonize ourselves is exhausting yet empowering. Reclamation over recolonization. #ResistingRecolonization #manamāori
My job as a Nannie is to teach my Moko that tikanga are acts of mātāpono (values) .Tikanga are not random rigid rules that exist without context. They are the actions of the implementation of our values - the things we do when we carry out manaakitanga, aroha, pono and mana.
Tika and pono pākeha allies will be easy to spot. They'll stand out from those who stay silent to secure funding and avoid discomfort. Māori have survived this bull💩 before, and we will do it again. ❤️🖤🤍 manamotuhake māori 👌🏿

The difficulty for politicians is “to accept that their assumed authority over Māori stems not from a voluntary treaty of cession but was taken by cultural arrogance, warfare, and overwhelming immigration.” — Moea Armstrong, a Pākehā Tiriti educator.

Language choices are ethical choices.
The terms we use to label & describe children can at times be more harmful than useful.

“We are a small enough country and we're wealthy enough to help each of our children who are most in need. We can’t save the world in one hit. But there are small, practical things we can do to save one child at a time.” — Judge Frances Eivers

I am an indigenous SLT & contract as a court-appointed communication assistant. I can not find any research on CA or intermediary kaupapa from an indigenous perspective. Can't have equity without indigenous matauranga & kawanatanga. Action is needed.
