“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.

In this terrible political environment for Republicans, with Trump’s awful poll #s, the tariffs, the war, etc — the GOPs literal ONLY hope is to scare voters about “communists” and hope they see ALL Dems in the same light. And yet, Trump is rolling out the red carpet for a communist leader while banning the press, Melania is on Fox saying she loved growing up in a communist country, and he’s offering $5k just to vote. 😂😂

“There’s something wrong with a country that can allow people to write purposely negative stories.” —Donald Trump As I’ve said before, there’s likely never been a president more detached from the core American culture of liberty, individualism, and self-determination than Trump.

On this day in 2026, Mike Johnson sent the House home early so members of Congress could evade their legislative responsibilities under the Constitution.
On this day in 1787, the founders signed the Constitution, laying the foundation for the most free, most powerful, most successful, most benevolent nation in the history of the world. We must continue the fight to defend and protect it. 🇺🇸

The national debt just hit a record $40 trillion. Trump promised to eliminate the debt. Instead, he increased it by more than any U.S. president in history.

On the last day of the Obama administration the national debt was $19.95 trillion. Now it’s $40 trillion. Trump and Biden and Congress under both parties doubled the national debt in the last decade. Once you get past the fun finger pointing, the fact remains this was a bipartisan failure.

The U.S. government buying stock in companies is not a Conservative policy position. Government ownership of companies aligns with socialism.

This is sick and proves the current administration moves the goal posts for their benefit at the detriment to the men and women they are sending to fight for us
The Pentagon removed the names of 4 servicemembers who died in Jordan from their official list of casualties. They explain that this is because "their deaths occurred after President Trump declared a cease-fire in the war in April." Free gift link: nytimes.com/2026/07/23/us/po…

Everyone wants to fight about the smartest president, but honestly the best answer got handed down by another president. In 1962 John F. Kennedy hosted a room full of Nobel Prize winners at the White House and told them, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone." The whole room laughed because they knew he was barely joking. Because Jefferson was a genuine freak of nature. He wrote the Declaration of Independence at 33, in about two weeks, and it still reads like scripture. He taught himself to read in something like half a dozen languages. He designed his own home at Monticello and then designed an entire university, buildings, curriculum, and layout, from scratch. He obsessed over science, farming, wine, food, and gadgets, and JFK described him that night as a man who could "calculate an eclipse, survey an estate, tie an artery, plan an edifice, try a cause, break a horse, and dance the minuet." And here is the part people forget. When the British burned Washington in 1814 and torched the Library of Congress, Jefferson sold the country his personal library to rebuild it, close to 6,500 books covering basically every subject a human being can study. His private collection literally became the foundation of the national library. Who owns 6,500 books in 1815? A maniac. A brilliant one. Purely on raw wattage, the man was operating on a different frequency than the rest of the list. Two hundred years later we are still living inside sentences he wrote alone at a desk.
Everyone loves to argue about the dumbest president, but the funniest part is that Warren Harding already ended the debate himself. He literally said "I am not fit for this office and should never have been here." Most politicians would rather walk into the sea than admit that. Harding just said it out loud and went back to his card game. And the record backs him up hard. He stuffed his cabinet with his poker buddies, the so called Ohio Gang, and then let them treat the federal government like their personal piggy bank. His Interior Secretary took cash and cattle to secretly hand off government oil reserves to rich friends. That is the Teapot Dome scandal, and the man actually went to prison for it. His Veterans Bureau chief looted money meant for wounded WWI soldiers. Two of his associates killed themselves as the investigators closed in. The kicker is that Harding saw it coming. He said his enemies never kept him up at night, it was his friends, because he could not say no to anyone. He even joked it was a good thing he wasn't a woman, because he'd never be able to say no and would always be pregnant. Self awareness was somehow the one thing he had plenty of. Even his big talent was fake. He gave these grand flowery speeches, and the critic H.L. Mencken said Harding's writing "reminds me of a string of wet sponges, of dogs barking idiotically through endless nights. It is so bad that a sort of grandeur creeps into it." That might be the meanest and most accurate review any president has ever received. He died in office in 1923 with the scandals still coming apart at the seams, and decades later a DNA test confirmed what people whispered for years, that he'd fathered a child with a much younger woman while he was in the White House. Historians have parked him at the bottom of the rankings for a hundred straight years. And the wild part is, Harding would probably just shrug and agree with them.

The House will pass a $12 billion bailout for farmers suffering from high fuel & fertilizer prices caused by the Iran War, expensive equipment & parts caused by tariffs, and lower sales prices for commodities due to trade disputes with China. But the GOP is fighting communism!

This dandy from the WSJ Editorial Board: "Since Mr. Trump declassified the memo, we can quote the part he didn’t. “Vote tabulation systems would be difficult to manipulate on a wide enough scale to compromise election results,” it says. “The systems in each voting location are not connected to the Internet or to each other, and many methods for exploiting them rely on physical proximity.” Achieving it across many jurisdictions “would be difficult” and “audits and paper trails very likely would uncover such an effort." ... "Unfortunately, the message from Mr. Trump and others has been that America’s elections can’t be trusted, and the only hope is the SAVE America Act. Aside from being untrue, this is a political backfire for the GOP. If Republican voters believe it, and the bill falls short, then why waste time going to the polls in November? Has the GOP already forgotten how Mr. Trump’s fraud outbursts cost them two Senate seats in the 2021 Georgia runoffs?" wsj.com/opinion/donald-trump…

The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board tears apart Trump’s tariffs in a blistering editorial: “The President is right that his tariffs are at work—in destroying U.S. jobs and raising prices. The U.S. has lost some 75,000 manufacturing jobs since January 2025, including 25,900 in motor vehicle and parts production... there’s no question his tariffs are raising costs for U.S. manufacturers.…Mr. Trump and his advisers claim that foreigners pay his border taxes, but the evidence shows that U.S. companies, workers and consumers are picking up most of the tab. The Anderson Economic Group estimates that auto tariffs on Canada and Mexico alone added about $1,600 to the cost of each car made in the U.S. last year. While auto makers absorbed some of the Trump tariff costs, they also passed on a large share to customers…Call it the Trump tax.”

People will think I'm crazy for this take, but I'm a big believer in the psychological impact of narratives on teams. Yes, Belgium looked so much better tonight and we looked lost. But this team had a boatload of good vibes behind them, and in the last 48 hours that vanished, and replacing it was a story of implicit political corruption that turned them into the bad guys, or at least the beneficiary of the corruption. You can't tell me that doesn't put pressure on the team, change the vibe, and take a psychological toll that impacted what happened on the field. American fans, serious and casual, should be pissed at this interference. We overturned a red card and our reward was losing what made this team so much fun until now.
