Still thinking on who to play for next summer? Choose a hybrid Legion team. Get the exposure tournaments with the crowds & support of home goals in front of friends & family. Only Legion baseball can get you both. Done correctly, there isn’t a better youth brand.@mwilson_Banner

August 1. Some phones ring today. If yours does, take notes, ask your three questions, and thank the coach. If it does not, go hit anyway. This date opens a conversation. It does not close one.

A leader/coach’s job isn’t just to make a player better at baseball. Teach him. Challenge him. Hold him accountable. Believe in him. But care about him, too. Long after the stats are forgotten, players will absolutely remember who actually gave a damn.

It’s rare to see truly aggressive baseball players anymore. Back in the day, guys played hard—hard slides, dirty uniforms, no concern about drip or looking good. They just played the game. Somewhere along the way, we lost that edge. That’s my take.

KISS Principles for High School Pitchers! 1. Shift mindset from getting hitters out, to letting them get themselves out. Attack, attack, attack. The game is on your side 2. Don't overcomplicate your delivery. Be athletic, have some rhythm and fluidity, repeat your separation, stay back over the rubber, stay closed, and really finish. 3. Fuck the 3rd and 4th pitch if you can't command two. I'm sorry. You don't get to learn calculus until you've mastered algebra. Also, if you can't get high school hitters out with 2 pitches, you aren't very good. 4. Best pitch in baseball is a well located fastball. Learn to throw a FB low and away to your glove side in your sleep. 5. Create a routine. You should do the same thing every pitch. You should have a reset. You should use a deep breath. 6. Play high quality catch. I love lots of different throwing drills, but the best drill is simply coming set just like in a game, and delivering the baseball to a spot. 7. It's you versus you. Win The Battle Within!! It's lonely on the hill. No one is coming to save you. Embrace that. Love it. Be a bulldog; a warrior - whatever you want to be. No excuses. Control what you can control - and we always have control of: our attitude, our mound presence, our body language, our tempo, our thoughts: THIS PITCH.

One word that changed everything for me? "Muditā" It means finding joy in others' success. Celebrating when your teammates, friends, and family win as if their victory is your own. In over 50 years of baseball, I've learned that the most successful teams aren't just talented. They're united. They lift each other up. Whether it was the 2007 Rockies or the 2013 Pirates, our greatest moments happened when we celebrated each other. Life's not a solo sport. It's a team game. The game taught me about more than baseball. It taught me about life. This is one of the lessons in my "Coach the Heart" keynote. If you want your team to hear this message, tap the link in my bio.

I was working with one of my players today. He looked at me and said, "Coach... I just want to get more hits." I smiled and said, "That's not your job." He looked confused. I told him, "Your job is to increase your probability of getting a hit." That's what hitting really is. A game of probabilities. On 0-0, the odds say you're most likely to get a fastball. So hunt the fastball. On 2-0...Fastball. 3-0...Fastball. 3-1...Fastball. You're stacking the odds in your favor. Now think about why batting averages drop with two strikes. Because now you have to protect against the fastball...The breaking ball...And the changeup. The odds become less favorable. The same principle applies to your swing. Your job isn't to chase hits. Your job is to hit the ball hard as often as possible. Why? Because hard-hit balls become hits far more often than weakly hit balls. You're not trying to guarantee a hit. You're trying to increase the probability of getting one. The best hitters don't chase results. They chase probabilities. They hunt the pitches they're most likely to get. They hit the ball hard as often as possible. Over time... Probability becomes production. Thank you for reading. -Jermaine Curtis P.s. - if you enjoyed this, and thought it was helpful, share it.

Baseball is NOT your identity. Your character is. The game will eventually take away your uniform. It can never take away your integrity, humility, work ethic, or the way you treat people. 🙌⚾️
