♻️ Recycling fact.
🍕 Most pizza boxes can be recycled, even with a little grease.
If parts are heavily soiled, tear off the greasy sections and put them in the rubbish, then recycle the clean cardboard.

🔥 Help prevent wildfires in Croydon
Hot, dry conditions increase the risk of wildfires, and it only takes one spark to start a fire. 🚫 No barbecues in parks 🚬 Put cigarettes out completely 🗑️ Take litter home if bins are full.

It’s going to be a hot weekend and a hotter next week ☀️
If you're out in one of the borough’s parks, please help us look after them by:
✅ Putting rubbish in the bin or take it home with you 🗑️
✅ Not having BBQs 👨🚒
✅ Cleaning up after your dog 🐕
Have fun!

We talk a lot about watering young trees, especially in the summer, but it is vital that newly planted trees get enough water while they are establishing themselves.

Today is National Clean Air Day. Did you know you can sponsor the planting of a tree in Croydon? 🌳
Choose a location, and if approved, a tree will be planted this winter, helping to reduce air pollution and absorb carbon.

Day 14 of #30DaysWild.
Following RSPB advice against using flat bird tables to stop disease spread, Siân repurposed her Gothic table into a log pile frame! It creates a safe home for invertebrates and offers a natural food source for birds. #RewildMyStreet

Young trees need at least 50L of water per week in order to become well-established trees in the future, which they are unlikely to get from summertime showers in the UK.
Water you local street trees today to give them the best chance at a healthy future 🌳

The car park on Belgrave Road in South Norwood had become a magnet for fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and rubbish.
Local volunteers and Council teams have cleaned this site before, but each time it has been treated as a dumping ground by a small minority with no respect for the neighbourhood.
As part of my zero-tolerance approach to environmental crime, we have carried out a major clean-up, removed nine abandoned vehicles, and are now installing cameras and improving security at the site.
Those responsible for blighting our neighbourhoods should be under no illusion - we are coming after you. #ZeroTolerance
Please note : @THCAT1s gardening session today has been postponed due to the latest weather forecast!
Wonder if the learners from @PegasusAcademy might be interested? I bet they have some great ideas...

👀In London's heatwave last week, @cityoflondon took the temperature - same day & time - in 2 nearby public squares.
The difference is green infrastructure. Urban tree canopy & vegetation are vital for coping with the climate crisis.
That's why we're planting 🌳🌳 across LDN

It’s estimated less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled. It takes up to 500 years for plastic to break down in landfill, & plastic pollution harms marine wildlife. Reducing single-use plastics, eg buying zero-waste & refillable products, can help.
